Ganz früher, als in Berlin noch diese seltsame Betonwand herumstand, wurde in Budyšin ein Kind geboren, das früh die musikpädagogischen Errungenschaften der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik geniessen und Geige spielen wollte, durfte, sollte, musste.

Die Betonwand fiel um. Ich schnitt mir einen Iro, schmiss die Schule und begann eine Lehre als Hausbesetzer. Ich warf die Geige an die Wand, besorgte mir aber bald eine neue, weil ich zu faul war, Gitarre zu lernen. Mit dieser spielte ich in den 90ern in Bands mit lustigen Namen wie Köterkacke. Nachdem diese sich auflösten, fing ich aus langer Weile an solo Musik zu machen. Ein Name musste her, Geigerzähler passte ganz gut und als eben jener toure ich seit 2003 meist durch den deutschen Sprachraum, spielte aber auch schon mal in Tel Aviv, Ramallah oder New York.
Anfangs war das Punk ohne Schlagzeug, Gitarre und Bass unplugged mit Geige und Gesang. Später kamen Folk-, Reggeanummern und zwei Duos hinzu – Berlinska Dróha und Atze Wellblech. Außerdem spiele ich hin und wieder Geige zu elektronischer Musik.
