Travelled through animated visuals, digital archives, and into a soft space.

Synthetic Tales x Vorspiel Berlin 2024

These two met in a bar last year and spoke for 30 minutes in English before realising they were both Italians, they were too distracted and curious about each other music taste.
Inspired by his Italian and Latin American roots, SCDR seeks to combine tropical electronic beats with dreamy/glitchy drums, exploring a wide range of emotions from playful moments to profound breaks of introspection.
PLX, a gentle human, with an interest in intricate rhythm, gliding through tempo scales, he enjoys narrating stories of love, melancholy and pure joy. The music he plays takes inspiration from, DnB, trippy electronics, breaks and Latin America

A New Hope is a Berlin-based music project by sound designer and researcher Louis Möckel. While producing percussive techno to fill the rave dome with base, He also performs live as a drummer with a more ambient-oriented sound language based on samples collected in the endless depths of the internet.

A New Hope is an emotional research project with the goal of manifesting the zeitgeist of post-industrial mass production. With the fall of the petrol-driven era that has filled the world with the sounds of machines and reverbs of big warehouses, A New Hope aims to detach from the submission of the machine by nostalgically embracing the beauty of industrial perversion.

A New Hope  x Synthetic Tales @Vorspiel.Berlin - 03.02.24

Neda (Niki Danai) is a multi-disciplinary artist and DJ based in Athens and Eindhoven. She's former part of KRAMA Festival,  a festival that combines contemporary classical with experimental electronic music and along with the renowned Athenian DJ Simos Ares, co-founded KAWRS, a collaborative and non-profit project that harmoniously blends art, design, and music. 

Together or individually with Simos Ares, they organize or participate in a variety of independent events and projects of the Greek underground scene. Notable contributions include events such as Plissken Festival, Tectonics Festival of Onassis Foundation, 'Queer Reclaim' and her involvement in the 2021 Athens Biennale.

She has shared the stage with esteemed DJs like Sama' Abdulhadi, Cabaret Nocturne, TSVI, Peder Mannerfelt, Dana Montana, among others.

I’m comforted to know that I have all the time in the world. 
I’m devastated to know that what I do right now is really important. 
As important as what I’ve done is, 
And also as important as what I will do will be. 

I’m devastated to know that it matters.
That it matters that I couldn’t look them in the eyes.
I’m devastated to know that it didn’t mean anything new. 
That It meant that I was fading again. 
Fading into the background, fading into the foreground, it doesn’t matter. 
My state of being was changing, and it felt real. 

I’m comforted to know that I don’t know how long it will take. 
I’m comforted to know that I don’t fantasize anymore. 
At least not as much as I used to. 

I used to envision all the possibilities. 
To imagine everyone I used to know, watching me being close with all the people I have yet to know. 

To imagine that the people I used to know would be impressed by the company I will be keeping, in the future.

That they would like what they were seeing.

I liked imagining that they would be surprised. 
I used my shame to my advantage back then. 
The more I was embarrassed by who I was, the easier it was to imagine the admiration people would feel while watching me become. 

But I’m here now, and they're definitely not watching me.

So here I am, here, and I’m a bit scared by her urgency, but I don’t interrupt her, because I’ve wasted far too much time laying bricks. 

I'm fading again and
She says there is only one thing to do.
I keep fading, but she's saying -
I keep fading into her, keep fading past her, 
she says, 
there is only one thing we can do. 

we have to stop everything - stop eating, stop drinking, stop accepting. 

I tell her I’m in. 
She says we can still smoke cigarettes. 
She fears no one else will join. 
I wrap myself in orange blankets, I light small red candles, I sleep very lightly in my IKEA BED IN BERLIN.

I'm in. If we do it, if we really do it, they have to listen, right?

If we all stop everything, they have to CEASE FIRE, right? 

And if we stop everything, and never start, and we say now, and we say now means now, and we never stop saying it until they have stopped killing people, displacing people, and breaking everything they have.. then.. 

Then all of a sudden, I’m somewhere else, and I am eating, drinking, and accepting, like my life depends on it. 
I am laying brick after brick after brick. 

All of a sudden I'm not stopping. I am making food, cleaning, and keeping things light. All of a sudden I have something to lose. I have to keep living. Nowadays I'm sleeping in a totally different IKEA bed which isn’t in Berlin, and it’s got white covers and baby blue sheets, and I’m comforted to know that what I'm doing right now is really important.

I have all the time in the world, but I wonder how much time there really is in the world…

( ether o ) is an interdisciplinary artist, drummer, producer, DJ, energy and sound practitioner from Taiwan, currently based in Berlin, Germany. Their diverse artistic portfolio encompasses video, sound, sculpture, installation, performance, artistic research, and workshops.

Employing a conceptual approach to music and sound, they view these elements as instruments for storytelling. Drawing on their background as a drummer, they frequently use drums as storytelling devices, incorporating a variety of gestures into their work.

Their performance practice has evolved into an ongoing exploration of the intersection between body, movement, and sound, emphasizing themes of representation, care, and healing within decolonial narratives. These ideas can be found in their DJ sets and have expanded into the production of percussion-based, bass-heavy dance music.

PILARDELMARE is an Amsterdam-based producer, performer and composer. They perform live, hypnotic techno sets with elements of trance and elektro. The releases reflect the sounds of the live performance: sensually repetitive modular sounds with occasional vocal and melodic sample chops. Steve Reich and Caterina Barbieri are influences that can be traced throughout the music, exploring ideas of emergence and ontology in minimalism.

Aysun (fka proxy_404)
Born and raised in Berlin with Turkish and Ukrainian-Russian roots, Aysun (they/she) is deeply dedicated to the city's music culture. By day, they practice as a psychotherapist. By night, they navigate between dance parties and more experimental spaces as a genre-fluid DJ with a love for deconstructed club, bass and ambient sounds. As the founder of Crush Kollektiv, a community space for FLINTA* DJs, they advocate for inclusivity and safer spaces in the music scene. Additionally, they serve as a radio host, exploring global electronic music scenes or diving into the sonic landscapes of video game music. They host shows on Refuge Worldwide Radio, Halfmoon BK and Colaboradio 88.4 FM Berlin.

Aysun x Synthetic Tales @Vorspiel.Berlin 04.02.24

Unism is an artist based in Berlin. Having their background in fine arts, their approach is multimedial and can be material or non-material. Their practice often contains sound and field recording in combination with other media, finding themself between performance, video, installation, sculpture and workshops.

The core of their aesthetic practice circulates around questions of how to connect to and expand our consciousness and perception. Therefore, they examine the human interface in general, with focus on the notion of the sensing body and more-than-human life forms. Unisim is researching and exploring psychoacoustic phenomena, timbre, textures and layering. They are interested in the physicality of sound and room presence of sound waves. The core of their composition is based on deep listening and therefore uses non-structured live performance as a medium, allowing for an organic and immersive connection between the audience and the sonic environment they create. Unism is also part of the ensemble other fields.

alizé.e is a multidisciplinary creative, based in Berlin. They employ graphics to visually archive, objects to explore intimacy, installations to deconstruct and reconstruct, curation as a promise to act, and music as an integral part of immersive experiences. Whether creating actively as a form of meditation or driven by mundane nostalgia, the resulting outcomes typically manifest as installations or collections, always stemming from collaborative efforts. The work of Monica Bonvicini and Bogomir Doringer is influencing their design and installation practice greatly. alizé.e recently exhibited their work during Dutch Design Week (Eindhoven, 2023) and at the Kunsthalle (Berlin, 2022).

In their music journey, they are inspired by DJs and producers like CCL and Objekt. They are part of Crush DJ Kollektive, organising monthly DJ sessions for FLINTA* people in Berlin. Driven by shared experiences and queerness, alizé.e curates spaces for interventions, viewing their art as activism, an exploration of identity, and a tool for community engagement.
