Susan Philpsz won the Turner Prize in 2010, so we knew that we were in for something special when we went to the Old Calton Cemetery today to hear her latest work. This is a sound installation which will resonate across the city during the Festival each day at 1 o'clock. This is not meant to be in competition with the One O'Clock Gun but is meant to be a kind of conversation.

Mixing comedy and masterclass, ‘pupils’ attending ‘Saint Dumbiedykes’ will study insect dissection with one of the country’s most renowned entomologists, take sex education classes with flirtation expert Tracey Cox, hear their graduation speech given by Jonathan Ross as well as enjoying irreverent takes on the school assembly, school dinners (make sure to eat your greens) and the end of term disco. With a resurrected school hamster and a mystery celebrity playing the school bell, Back To School promises to be a rollicking good show, full of Fringe fun, dark surprises and extra-curricular chaos. Takes place at Braidwood Community Centre which is under threat of closure

Edinburgh writer Adrian J Walker will be taking a novel approach to sharing his debut literary thriller From the Storm with festival-goers this August.  Walker will leave one copy of his book in locations all over Edinburgh on each day of our world famous Festival. Susannah Radford spoke to him to find out more.

China's Three Tenors will perform with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra at Usher Hall for one night only tonight Friday 3 August, 7.30pm. And we were very fortunate to meet these three hugely talented artistes  this morning.
