SOulfreqtion is a deep house artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. His influence in the house music was drawn from the record labels like, Deeper Shades of House, Aluku Rebels, Soul Candi and House Afrika. Eventually producing his own myriad of tracks which landed on labels like Batavia Records, Deepwit Recordngs, Deep House Cats, Do It Now Recordings, Deepstitched, The Purr Music, M-Sol Deep. Currently doing collaborations with artist such as Darles Flow, Fred Monk and Inno Vinovight.

Session 18: SOulfreqtion

This has been titled a soundtrack over anything else. Yes it has a backbone and bed of dance music tracks but the entire project that Expediton has become involved more multitrack production and field recordings alongside several dozen sound design elements throughout the entire project. If your looking for a dj set to just dance to, this probably isn't for you. If your looking to melt into a multitude of natural ambiance and environments with some obscure under tones and trippy sound design, this is absolutely for you. Aside from the over two hour set recorded, there are over three dozen field recordings layered upon several dozen sound design elements to take you all on an expedition. Sure, it gets a little silly and probably weird at a moment or two, but I had fun with it!
I started this mix series years back in hopes to take the listener on a journey and I feel like this is pulling you into the mix deeper then it typically would. I really enjoyed working on this and hope you enjoy listening! 
Optimum listening experience would be in either a set of headphones or on some nice monitors. The stereo field gets wide at some points and the placement on some elements shifts around the stereo field.

Putting on your own event is a whole different kind of stress and this year I definitely met many challenges which brought me to the edge and back many times,  I struggle to find time for self care let alone the thought of playing any tunes.

After a culmination of stress and worry back stage and a mad scramble to find a selection of tracks to play, I ended up throwing caution to the wind and just let the tracks find themselves when I got started mixing, this set was definitely a big emotional release for me.

Huge thank you to everyone who continues to support me in what I do, the Irony of naming an event "The Comfort Zone" which always takes me so far from mine is never lost on me. 

Its always worth it in the end though and I am always blown away by the amazing community that has come together to help support this event & its ideals.
