Channelling the collective rave energy from a recent festival experience we welcome London-based artist Ell Murphy to the series. 

Founder of the ever-growing label Jucey Tunes where she recently released a collaborative EP with Mani Festo, Ell Murphy is an exciting emerging voice within the South East London scene. Bringing a hybrid element to her sets with live vocal performances, Ell has played notable sets for FOLD, Hör Berlin, fabric and more. Her debut EP was released on Shall Not Fade's sub-label Time Is Now, featuring collaborations with DJ Crisps, Stones Taro and Highrise, and Ell also co-wrote and featured on TSHA's Flowers EP on Ninja Tune. 

Speaking about the mix, Ell says, "I recorded this mix on the monday after being at Westival for the weekend, so I was still buzzing from the amazing energy of being surrounded and inspired by such a lovely crew playing amazing tunes for 48 hours straight. So in this mix I wanted to capture that lingering feeling after a festival of that crew-love and dancing all night long, combined with the comedown and wishing you were still there dancing in that field with not a care in the world. I also wanted to create a nostalgic feeling with this mix as I've been thinking a lot recently about the dance music that I listened to growing up in the mid 90s, which has inspired me so much to this day, in the music that I make and play - so it features a lot of 90s house vibes and rave pianos galore."

Untitled 909 Podcast 126: Ell Murphy

Roy produces thematic, UK influenced electronic music; tying together ideas of Bristolian Futurism with genre-spanning sound design. After a successful release of his debut EP ‘Hydrotech’ on Room II Records, which found wide and promising support, Roy recently enjoyed his first European summer of events. 
Heading up Local Knowledge Records, Roy emphasises the importance of supporting emerging talent. The 10” vinyl series kicked off in 2020 with a bang, featuring Eora’s Hed Ardennes, and quickly sold out at retailers.

Origins Tapes 070 - Roy Mills

A dreamy, oftentimes healing, after hours mix from Miami’s Jonny From Space. Woozy in feeling, the mix includes tracks from Tammo Hesselink, Lurka, RHR, Azu Tiwaline, Tano and Forest Drive West to name a few - leaving you in a daze. 

Speaking about the mix, Jonny says, “I wanted to play a slower mix because thatʼs just how Iʼve been feeling these days but with the body feel to keep everyone swaying and head bopping into the early morning hours after a long night. Lots of low end, sluggish, woozy, breaky dub techno to keep everyone on their toes.” 

Jonny From Space is very much on the rise right now on a global scale. A prolific producer who in the last two months has announced/released three records including the self-released ‘Spiral’, a collaborative EP with Coffintexts (out next week) and the highly-anticipated ‘No Swim Advisory’ EP which will be out next month via Danny Daze’s Omnidisc imprint - including a remix from the label founder himself. 

Outside of his productions, Jonny is a resident DJ and key member of Club Space and III Points Festival. He also co-founded the party series ODD (Objects Don’t Dance) with friends and collaborators Sister System and True Vine.
