Created while flying over Australia's red centre, as a sand storm tinted the clouds in a dreamy pink; using only Alchemy, my all time favourite phone synth app.

I think might have taken a bit of a personal approach to this project.

To create "short bursts of music" I used the Buchla Easel for one part of the composition, and the Waldorf Quantum for the other.

I created a fairly complex, random, self running patch on the Buchla Easel, which spits out short bursts of random notes and noise. This was routed through the KOMA BBD Delay, with its delay time controlled by the MakeNoise Wogglebug.

On the Quantum I choose a patch with two particle oscillators set to granular, and then I manipulated them in numerous ways during the recording. This is basically live slicing and live manipulation of a sample.

I would recommend you to follow the track through to its end, as there are quite a lot of interesting textures developing.

Solitude has different meanings; it does not have to mean meditating, relaxing, or having a spa-treatment - it can just as well mean going berserk!

For a change I used much of my gear in the one and same track. I often try to restrict myself, but not so tonight. All is played, recorded, manipulated and mixed,  on the fly, as a single stereo recording only, but in the studio, with a glass of red, or two... there's a lot of knob tweaking and fader pushing going on...

Buchla Easel through the KOMA BBD delay. Only processed signal allowed through, delay time randomly controlled by the MakeNoise Wogglebug, resulting in a very off beat and unpredictable piece. Add to this one tape echo each for left and right...

In the history of Japanese martial arts, dojoyaburi (道場破り, dojoyaburi, "dojo storming"), also known as dojoarashi (道場嵐, dojoarashi, "dojo storm"), is the action of visiting a rival martial arts school in order to challenge its members. This usually led to taryūjiai (他流試合, taryujiai, "other style match"), a fight between the visitor and a member of the school, usually its head or a fighter chosen for the challenge, where the superiority of their respective fighting styles would be tested.  The losing side would also lose its martial prestige and in many cases, its apprentices would abandon it for the winner's school.

I started with an old field recording of mine, of a humming transformer station. The transformer station is big and solid, and within it are huge powers. I slowed it down and it lies as a big heavy foundation throughout the piece, encompassing the whole map, the mountain, the earth. Ambient sounds with occasional erratic ripples illustrate both the mountain, the winds, the dust, the shapes and colours of the mountain and of the man made map. Meanwhile there is a mumble and a creaking going on underground. Along the lines we travel, lines come with us for a while and disappear, other lines come and follow for a while and then fade off. The piece is in constant motion, not linear, more like the cyclic movement of wind, waves, earth, time.

I used a field recording, digital, analogue and modular synthesisers, all recorded and transformed in Logic Pro.
