Artists with renowned solo careers alongside their ever-evolving journey as the critically acclaimed duo Pale Blue, Mike Simonetti and Elizabeth Wight continue to showcase why their collaborative material is much-loved from all corners of the electronic realm and beyond. Arriving on the heels of the release of the playful and charming ‘No Words’, the pair return to Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels with the third and penultimate single ahead of their forthcoming album release as they switch up the mood and veer into wistful territories across the absorbing ‘Together Alone’ - backed by a remix from Kompakt mainstay and electronic heavyweight, Kölsch. 

“Together Alone is the longest song on the record. It is meant to represent the three phases of a relationship: the beginning, middle, and end. It is also the penultimate song on Maria, the song before the realisation, the slow dance” says Simonetti, uncovering the story behind the touching and moving record. Wight adds, “‘Together Alone’ is pretty self-explanatory. It is about that period in a relationship when you are going through the motions, when you know it’s over, but you go on anyway”.

A carefully created journey across almost eight minutes, ‘Together Alone’ is an exemplary showcase of balance and restrain as delicate melodies and hazy tones float amongst subtle nimble percussion arrangements, blooming synths and Wight’s captivating vocals for a deep dive into dreamy spheres. Bringing his own take to the record, Danish electronic pioneer Kölsch heads to Crosstown Rebels with his excellent crafted ‘I Have You’ remix, as he builds on the original with a powerful and emphatic introduction of anthemic leads, crisp kicks and a warping bassline rooted at the track’s core to transport the production firmly into the heart of the dancefloor.

Returning to spearhead Meanwhile’s output as 2025 kicks into gear, the collaborative pairing of GMJ & Matter deliver “Telomeres” alongside a remix from Australian icons Kasey Taylor and Karl Pilbrow for their 2023 hit “EXT 135” to round out the package.

The Melbourne-based duo behind the Meanwhile imprint are widely recognised as responsible for helping shape the modern Progressive House scene. Pivotal in the development of the label’s development both as solo artists and with their combined output, their work on Meanwhile has seen the “Lost on Origin”, “Gauntlet” and “Eldarin” EPs all released over the label’s inaugural year (between April and August 2020), before “The Path / Perfect Storm” followed 6 months later. 18 months elapsed before “Ext 135 / Elemental / Time To Space” appeared at the end of 2022 with “Stellaris / Idritah” following a year later in December 2023.

Now as 2025 finds its feet, GMJ & Matter provide their fans with a seventh original release on their ever-evolving label. The powerful building blocks that shape “Telomeres” evolve easily from its rolling groove foundations and deep sub-bassline sequence. A muted arp comes to the fore in perfect synchronous cadence while the endless delays present in the analogue motif cascade across the stereo spectrum filling the sonic space. A new and dynamic arpeggio appears at the breakdown as its gradual open filter provides the weight and dancefloor gravitas to herald a drop into the third movement. The same sequence makes an appearance in the second half in combination with the other rhythmic and melodic characters, to devastating effect.

Vapour Recordings head honcho, Kasey Taylor needs little introduction to the Meanwhile cognoscenti. A bona fide electronic music legend, the Australian artist has been at the vanguard of the progressive scene since the mid-90s with a double century of credits on such esteemed imprints as Sudbeat Music, Afterglow and John Digweed’s Bedrock and a century on his own Vapour Recordings. New Zealander, Karl Pilbrow moved to his adopted Melbourne home in 2012 before a partnership with Kasey Taylor witnessed a score of production credits including 2020’s “Amber Skies” and 2023’s “Fairlight” on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat. A trio of original releases on Vapour followed, not least in July 2024’s “Sonorous / Alluvium / Inscape”. Now debuting on Meanwhile, the Kasey Taylor & Karl Pilbrow remix of “EXT 135” contains the deep bassline presence of the original while an unrelenting, rapid-fire groove creates a magical tension. Developing sonic intrigue, the melodic progression of the original’s breakdown is found wedded to the driving rhythm in majestic and spine-tingling fashion. Full of bassline intensity, familiar vocal cuts and melodic fragility are the perfect counterweight to the rhythmic heft.

PREMIERE: GMJ & Matter - Telomeres [Meanwhile]

Opening the month of March, D.J. MacIntyres SLC-6 Music presents the twenty-fourth edition of their SIX: Stage-X compilation series. Established five years ago, the beloved various artists showcase continues to search the globe for the freshest new talent that the electronic underground has to offer, featuring a cohesive blend of progressive and melodic techno styles. SIX: Stage-24 continues that ethos featuring exclusive new music from: Lena Storm, Ormus, Sound Fusion & Juan Ram, Rama (AR) & AOVA, Platon (RU) and Lucas Pietra. Returning to the label with the first selection is Lena Storm. Now making her fourth SLC-6 appearance, the Russian artist impresses once again with Ecliptica. Cross-cultural vocals take centrestage here, creating a prophetic quality which melds perfectly with Lenas energized beats, dynamic percussion and crunchy club-effective framework. Selection two finds Ormus returning to the label for his second appearance, following a contribution to the twenty-third edition of SIX: Stage-X. Famed for his releases via JOOF Recordings and RPO, the Spanish artist unveils his latest studio creation Neshama, a retro-fusion of progressive house and trance, complete with acid-like lines, spiraling arps and a cinematic break to gain the full attention of your dancefloor. Sound Fusion & Juan Ram combine their extensive forces on selection three External Activity. Hailing from Poland and Mauritius respectively, the duo craft a deep, driving cut that excels through meditative synth phrasing, thought provoking vocal samples and a memorable melodic theme, the latter of which pushes the journey to an uplifting finale. The collections second and final collaboration is provided by Rama (AR) & AOVA. Hailing from Argentina and Mexico respectively, the cross-continental duo have been studio partners in the past for Madlochs 3rd Avenue, as part of the labels popular Three of a Kind series. Their latest, the deeply mysterious Another Perspective finds them crafting a trippy yet melodic affair, driven by wispy effects, meditative rhythms and a trance-inspired finale thats perfect for the morning hours. Selection five Sever is provided by SLC-6 stalwart Platon (RU). The Russian artist makes his seventh label appearance here, presenting a mature no frills club cut driven by tough kick drums, ominous synth swells and a tripped-out break to fully saturate your senses. The collection concludes with Lucas Pietra making his label debut following releases for 3rd Avenue, Anoka, BCSA and Nordic Voyage. Arshall finds the Buenos Aires resident crafting a tough progressive cut, one that cleverly mixes buzzing chord stabs and chunky basslines with orbiting effects and a siren-like lead to unite your dancefloor at its peak hours.

For our 57th release, we are excited to welcome back the incredibly talented Nicolas Rada to the label. The Argentinian producer and DJ, known for his releases on Sudbeat, The Soundgarden, Flown Records, and Days Like Night, has crafted two tracks that are unmistakably infused with his signature sound. Berlin-based Electro/Pop duo Yeah But No announce the release of the latest addition to "Demons Remixes", a series of carefully chosen remixes accompanying their sophomore album "Demons".

Yeah But No is comprised of Douglas Greed and Fabian Kuss. Merging electronic music with classic song structures into a smart and captivating listening enjoyment is the band's objective ever since they started collaborating. 

Being on the road constantly, Yeah But No have shaped and redefined their musical vision of the band. Dealing with inner and outer conflicts and contrarieties, "Demons" is a slightly darker and more mature piece of music than the bands previous releases. 

Following the two marvelous works by Mollono.Bass and Andreas Henneberg, now Berlin/Rotterdam-based DJ, producer and owner of House/Techno-label AEON, Alex Niggemann, gets involved. He transfers the bands recent Single "Run Run Run" into a dark and hypnotising Melodic House track. 

As classically trained pianist, and a tireless character in the world of electronic music, Alex Niggemann is used to change perspective, und crossing musical boarders. Always embracing the new and constantly pushing boundaries of the music he loves so much, and updating it for the future.
