A love letter to the Pacific Northwest and the intimate connectedness of humans to the natural world.

The first song is dedicated to my mother who left her home to flee the Genocide during the Khmer Rouge occupation. 

 In Khmer, the translation of the phrase “Chlong Tonle” is “to cross the river.” A phrase the elders used to describe childbirth, similar to the dangerous journey of crossing a large river, in that you never know when you might lose your life in the depths and fast-flowing waters of the river. Some would make it, others would drown.

From the mountains to the rivers, 
the creek will always finds its way to the ocean,
leaving a braid of channels in the sand,  
the signs of a journey made,
paths carved,
Like roots reaching for the water
