Musically speaking, dub techno has a haunting, haunted, tripped out site of memorial exploration where everything sounds half-remembered, half-there and half-real. The genre is akin to ambient music, in that music of both genres acts as background music on purpose. The best tracks in the dub techno genre do what little it does amazingly, in that every element in the mix is given breathing space and, accordingly, takes on a sense of the organic.

Please welcome Ivelin Iliev aka Protuberance into the Mix!

Behind the project "Protuberance" is Ivelin Iliev - a producer and DJ from Bulgaria. He found out about electronic music for the first time in the mid-1990s when he first heard Prodigy. In the beginning of the new century, he began organizing underground techno parties with friends. In parallel, he started producing his own music. In 2010, he bought the necessary equipment and maked his own studio. Since then, there have been 4 albums released, one of which is on a CD for the oldest net label in Bulgaria for experimental electronic music Mahorka. His name appears in the dub techno combinations of Cold fiction - Future [e] cho. He also released his own music for various small independent labels.@protuberance
As a producer, he sets no boundaries and experiments in various electronic styles such as ambient, DNB, deep techno and IDM.

In 2019, he launched his own series of podcasts entitled "Cryptic vibes" , in which he sets up live shows and streams them on Facebook and Youtube. Like a DJ, the music he uses is a cocktail of techno, dub techno, tech house, deep techno

Deep Electronics Podcast # 165 - Chrysalism

Episode 27 comes next on Poisonoise Music and is the second guest mix in the series from the Negyednégy guys from Budapest, Hungary.      I love the sound that these guys are pushing and love the variety of styles shown on their label so make sure you check these out.

Avenue Red presents a mix by Athens-based Substak, another wildly deep DJ/producer from Greece on the series. This is a magical and unique mix full of hypnotic, dubby, peculiar house & techno vibes, played nice and slow.

Substak: Cause inflated egos, big names and artificially manufactured hype are no interest to me either.

Substak: For those that have heard me or not, my mix is like the others. Nothing different, focus on music, track selection featuring works I want others to hear and feel also. I prefer to push music from the not so well known DJ's & producers, it's never about the new tracks or "top charted" or any other nonsense fad metric with me.

The mix starts with more calm, ambient sounds that passes you to dub techno sounds, then to close with more dark and techno sounds. As I say, no more words... just let the music speak ;)

Hope a 12" release to come soon, it's the one thing that I haven't made so far. And of course I will not stop with Avenue Red, this was just a beginning. I'm happy to work with this podcast, which is one that I notice will continue to push out episodes from the same DJ's rather than just being a 1-stop shop.

As with all of my mixes, but perhaps more so than any other... this one is a deep bastard - I'm talking "it would take 2 hours for a big fucking ship to strike the basin" deep.

A selection of older and newer material from the great ocean of techno. Opening with some glowing, deep and melodic sounds, we traverse through the razor sharp sonics of Quantec (a track from his new album, <a href="http://www.discogs.com/Quantec-1000-Vacuum-Tubes/release/3644316" target="_blank">1000 Vacuum Tubes</a>) and the minimal mystique of Grad_U to some blissed out and sublime electronic dub tracks including a classic cut from Rhythm & Sound.

A sequence of zoned-out atmospheric tech house brings this mix home with some very special new tracks on some of my favourite labels, including Telrae, Illian Tape and Echocord before we close up with an absolutely timeless track, "Evil Dub" taken from Swayzak's 1998 classic <a href="http://www.discogs.com/Swayzak-Snowboarding-In-Argentina/master/64157" target="_blank">Snowboarding In Argentina LP</a>.
