August 2014: The song got voted to the 1st place in the bi-weekly competition "Distinctive Electronica" (soundcloud.com/groups/distinctive-electronica)

"A Soaring Trip In Shadowy Forests" started  its life as "Trips in a dark forest" as part of "Dark Matter" (http://nowo.bandcamp.com/). The way the piano part was integrated and the vocal samples used are the most obvious reminders of this ancestry. However, the song was never brought to a satisfying conclusion. 
Fast forward half a year and work started again on the track. The old drum, synth and bass parts were scrapped completely. Having recently upgraded the software of my Maschine Mikro to Machine2, this was the first song where I decided to utilize it, after my first attempts had proven unsuccessfully due the not very intuitive interface. I persevered and recorded all of the drum, synth and bass tracks on Maschine.
When the song was done (loads of tracks in Maschine and 1 piano track in Reaper), it still was missing something and I decided to add a little bit of guitar. I might have gone overboard a bit with 8 acoustic and 12 electric guitar tracks, but it got me to the sound I wanted. 
"A Soaring Trip In Shadowy Forests" is the fourth song from "Offcuts and Outtakes", Nowo's current work in progress album . 
This song is an excellent example of that collection of previously recorded songs which are being re-mixed or songs that have not made the cut to be included in one of Nowo's former releases but where it would be a shame to just consign them to the scrap heap.
