I've been a fan of Goldfrapp since their debut album 'Felt Mountain' appeared in 2000, probably my favourite album of theirs. I've had a tribute arrangement of my favourite track, 'Utopia', from that album in my DAW for ages, with the Alison Goldfrapp vocal parts done with EWQL 'Voices Of Passion' used in layers as an approximation, but of course it lacked the feeling of the original.
On a recent visit to my home, my good friend Martin Eve aka 4th Eden spotted this on my desktop and he suggested mutual friend Marianne Holland here on SoundCloud would love to do the vocals on this tribute as they are both Goldfrapp fans too. 
Marianne it turns out was actually unfamiliar with that first album and had picked up on the later ones, so she came to this tribute project having heard 'Utopia' for the first time when she heard my arrangement. She has done an absolutely first rate job on the vocals here and hits those impossibly high notes with apparent ease ... her vocal range is amazing.
Martin came in again at the end and completed our respectful tribute with a final mix and has done a top job. I hope we have managed to do the fabulous original some justice.
