Musician Bio



Pola Popovich is a Polish - American singer-songwriter located in California. She plays Alternative/Rock and catchy Punk/Pop tunes. She works now on her first EP "Game of Chance." 

Perhaps her biggest musical inspiration comes from Lou Reed, who unapologetically declared, that he never really overcame his childhood trauma.

Pola’s first song “Twilight in Gutter,” a song about friendship, loneliness and nostalgia was recorded in Seaward Studio’s in Los Angeles with help of her husband and friends, who played cello and percussion. 

Pola was born in Poland and was active in Punk Underground movement in 1980s as a singer of the band “White Volcanoes.” 
The band emigrated to West-Berlin and eventually disbanded in 1988 and Pola who neither played instruments or knew how to write songs gave up on making music all together.

She had privilege to experience culture in many world’s capitals;  Berlin, Amsterdam, Berkeley and finally her home town where she resides now, Los Angeles, CA. Her background taught her how to adopt to any cultural paradigms, but also made her question societies cultural assumptions and expectations. 

She often felt like an outcast, and was also suffering from anxiety which left her unable to connect to that inner voice from which comes Art. 

Nevertheless she learned how to overcome her anxiety by viewing it as an ever-present existential angst and her ability to make music burst forward like a water from the well.

She got back to a making music after undergraduate studies in college, when she discovered that her only two real interests were Rock music and Theater arts. She quit college and decided to pursue writing and recording music on her own. 

She picked up what she left in 1988 with passion but this time taught herself how to play guitar, write lyrics and compose songs.

Pola makes music hoping to connect with similar people who struggle with demands of grinding society, relationships and are looking for meaning in the mundane.
