ABOUT:

Nils Frahm has always said that he’s just waiting for something real special when being asked if he would ever score the music for a film. And that’s exactly what German director Sebastian Schipper presented to him with his one-take feature ‘Victoria’. Filmed in Berlin, Victoria’s plot sees a runaway party girl, who's asked by three friendly men to join them as they hit the town, but their wild night of partying suddenly turns into a bank robbery as the music changes from techno to subdued piano sounds.

For the recording session at Studio P4 in Berlin, Frahm enlisted the help of long-time collaborator and cellist Anne Müller, violist Viktor Orri Árnason and ambient artist Erik K. Skodvin of Deaf Center on guitar.

‘Victoria’ won the Berlinale Film Festival prize for Best Cinematography and has also received seven nominations including Best Soundtrack for the Deutscher Filmpreis – Germany’s highest movie award, and will be released in cinemas across Germany on June 11th with plans to release it in the UK and other countries soon.

Entwining sun-drenched days on the beach with the endless rolling hills of a relaxed country adventure, Islandis brings James Chave-Dubois (East Sydney) and Ben McInerney (Country NSW) together to form something that blends land and sea.

Formed in the depths of winter, Islandis is a brief moment of reflection across the years of escaped summers the two best mates have shared, whilst reveling in the excitement of the approaching warmth of a new season. Its nostalgia and anticipation rolled into a single emotion. 

Drawing influence from artists across time that have similarly embraced this moment, such as Belle and Sebastian, The Whitest Boy Alive, Mondo Rock and The Easybeats, Islandis are swirling guitars and delicate vocals floating across glistening percussion. 

Islandis’ debut release ‘Home’ is a place where all adventures begin and ultimately return, it is not just the first track from the pair but also a journal of escapism and a representation of the urgency of experience. Recorded in James’ and Ben’s home studios then mixed by Adrian Breakspear (Pharrel Williams, Gang of Youths, Ricky Martin), Home is the first track lifted off the duo’s debut EP set for release early 2016.

London based DJ and producer Jimmy Hickmott aka Polar Bears Can Dance has amassed over 2 million plays online with his mixes, remixes and original tracks, as well as a number of impressive festival appearances under his belt, including Secret Garden Party, Shambala, Beat-Herder and is a regular mainstay year on year providing the soundtrack to hundreds of thousands of revellers at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

Making a name for himself playing Funk, Soul, Disco, and Afro plus everything in between, the DJ and producer’s eclectic approach has earned him critical validation from iDJ Magazine, Tatler and fellow DJs Greg Wilson, Shaka Loves You, Mr Switch, Dope Ammo and Mr Benn.

With a career spanning almost 2 decades, beginning at Student Unions and taking a bag of records to every student party going, he broke through by winning the Vestax National Student DJ of the year award in 2004. Since then he has developed his turntablism skills whilst maintaining spot on selections and always keeping the party rolling. Playing sets all over the UK, including securing residencies and gigs in some of London’s hottest night spots. 

A big fan of open format, through the decades, eclectic party sets - quick fire mixing The Cure with Beyonce into Justice, Blur then back to David Bowie mixed with Disclosure - finding a thread and weaving it together without making it feel disjointed. Jimmy really understands how to read the room, work the crowd and feel the vibe.

Ever evolving to move with the times, Jimmy is now incorporating live visuals whilst maintaining the essence of old school DJing, using vinyl decks and turntablism trickery, earning himself the reputation as provider of “awesome sounds and fun party vibes” - British Vogue.
