The journey begins with 'Crise', a track with kinetics pads that make your mind travel without moving from where you are.. The leitmotiv is pure and the trippy voices all around will be engraved in your head.

On the B-side, 'The End' is more hypnotic, making us float with its Vangelisian atmosphere and arpeggiating synth work that captivates from beginning to end.

For the remix, the godfather of Dark Disco sticks to the task.

Magic Feet is an english label we really like at LYO. Running 12" from artists like Timothy J.Fairplay, Antoni Maiovvi, Kalidasa  or the most underrated balearic duo "Tommy Awards" (we played to death both of their MF releases)headhoncho Craig Bratley continues his path without caring about the trends. Those familiar with the world of dub-disco and modern Balearica should know all about Layne Fox, a San Francisco-based producer who has released some killer records over the last decade on labels such as Permanent Vacation, Rong or Leng as part of noted collective "40 Thieves" 
Now, Fox has decided to go it alone for an outing on Magic Feet that marks his first solo outing since 2005’s "Move Me" under the Tuffy alias. It’s something of a gem, too, effortlessly combining many of his familiar influences with nods towards druggy Italo-disco and horizontal pop.
Magic Feet boss Craig Bratley handles remix duties himself, offering a complimentary but notably different interpretation. His version subtly emphasizes the track’s downbeat pop credentials, pushing the vocal to the fore above a sparse electro groove, dreamy pads and flashes of acid-inspired electronics. Think Cold Wave vibes but with actual production values, not pretend ‘mastered on cassette’. It’s the perfect accompaniment to Fox’s hypnotic, head-in-the-clouds original ! Enjoy

Following the release of Mugwump’s acclaimed debut- album "Unspell" in its Deluxe Edition earlier this year, and with media plaudits from the likes of Groove, Clash, SPIN, The Fader, Mixmag (Germany + UK), Nowness, Metro, Uncut, Les Inrockuptibles, Tsugi plus a recent June 2016 headlining guest appearance on BBC 6 Music, Mugwump will return on 21st October 2016 with an assorted package of mind-blowing music and an improved band line-up (drums+vox : Lukas Melville / synths+vox+machines : Geoffroy Mugwump / bass+vox : Stephane Fedele / guitar : Thomas Stadnicki) which is heading towards a big blend of influences such as (Cult Belgian 80's band)TC Matic, early Talking Heads, The Stranglers, Johnny Marr, Air, Ought, Protomartyr or a darker LCD Soundystem. Mugwump keeps on joining the dots between daring dancecuts and live post-punk/disco/indierock with the Metempsycho EP, which serves as a vehicle and playground for the new formation, showcasing re-arrangements of 2 existing album songs ("Breakdown" & "Memento lies") and the new single, « At the Front ». Sung by Geoffroy Mugwump, "At The Front" is an eerie piece of post-punk indie pop, coming with a 10 minutes- long haunted dub version. The song signals an exciting direction for Mugwump’s second album, currently in the works and penned for 2017. Radical club facelifts by Kill The DJ/Les Disques De La Mort's Ivan Smagghe/Rupert Cross, Fabrizio Mammarella (Slowmotion/International Feel) & recent Subfield signings Front De Cadeaux round- off this exciting package.

Phonica Records Special Editions in association with Play It Again Sam is delighted to present the incredible Quiet Village remix of Agnes Obel’s ‘Stretch Your Eyes’, lifted from the Danish born, Berlin based singer songwriter’s critically acclaimed 3rd studio album ‘Citizen of Glass’.

Obel was at an early age guided into music by the influence of her parents, who would play and listen to a blend of the classical greats, folk music and contemporary pop. She learnt to play piano as a child but it was her move to Berlin in 2006 that prompted her to take her music to the next level. Her debut Philharmonics was released in 2010, a quiet phenomenon that spent seven consecutive weeks at number 1 and sold in excess of 100,000 copies in her homeland alone. The release of ‘Aventine’ in 2013 cemented her status as a household name across Europe and as an icon to piano players throughout the world.

Quiet Village are the British duo of long-time record-collector and DJ Joel Martin and Matt Edwards, the house and techno producer known as Radio Slave and the head of the Rekids label. They came to our attention with a series of highly sought after twelves on the DJ Harvey-related Whatever We Want label from New York, alongside excellent remixes of The Osmonds, Toby Tobias, Black Devil Disco Club and Francois K before releasing their acclaimed album on K7 Records in 2008. After a break from using the Quite Village name, the duo are back with a bang and recently graced the Phonica White label with a fantastic techno 12” ‘Social Music’ / ‘Change’.

Needless to say, Quiet Village were the first producers Phonica thought of when looking for remixes for this project and their slow, dark, dub-heavy atmospheric groove perfectly compliments Agnes’s vocal, with echoes of Massive Attack’s timeless ‘Teardrops’ coming to mind. It’s one of the finest remixes we’ve heard in recent memory and we’re proud to present it as a limited 12” on the Special Editions label.

A. Agnes Obel - Stretch Your Eyes (Quiet Village Remix)

London based club night and newly formed label Snap Crackle & Pop's third releases comes in the form of a dark take on new wave influenced techno from Berlin based New Yorker Curses. Side A kicks off with a hypnotic techno stomper Another View which playfully tips its hat to early electro albeit through a visor of coldwave inspired guitars. Together In The Dark delves into even darker territores with ice cold organs reaching for the light through the grinding ambient yet groovy undertones. On the B-side Inga Mauer ramps up the dancefloor tension with her machine like acid rework pulsating and crashing urgently Together In The Dark, whilst The Golden Filter turn out a low slung trip of brooding synths and haunting vocals before cascading down the rabbit hole in a swell of industrial motorik beats and percussive explosions in their take on Another View.

Stylo and Space Motion, two of our current favorite producers join forces for a massive EP in Be Again / Last Siren.

With a strong vocal theme the track 'Be Again' leads the A side of the EP. An infectious rolling bass line sets the mood for all the atmospheres that surround it, with hypnotic melodies and well defined ambiences putting its listeners in a total state of inner trance.

On the B side of this EP Stylo and Space Motion bring total darkness with 'The Last Siren'. A powerful and groovy bass line brings the cadence while the super elaborate fx and drum work define this track into a one of kind. But the cherry on top of this record is definably the melodies that echo a siren sound as the title of the track suggests, simply genius.
