I am excited to present all new CH-47D Chinook helicopter recordings from summer 2025 along with sounds captured from 2023 to 2024. Included are exterior close, medium close and distant turbine starts, hovering, arriving, departing and passing by during fire fighting duties and US Army unit flights.

Captured with high end stereo microphones in 96kHz/32-Bit Floating Point and delivered at 24-Bit/96kHz the sounds have incredible detail and a wide dynamic range.

Recorded at a quiet airport with minimal ambient background noise I was able to record extremely distant approaches and pass bys out to 750 meters. Multiple angles were recorded from the front, side and rear to give you a diverse set of material to work with. The pass bys were recorded while the helicopter was flying over my property. At times it was very close overhead and others it was 2 to 4 miles away.

Standing close to this massive machine while it’s lifting off and landing is thrilling to say the least. The wind gusts it produced almost knocked me over a few times. With the Schoeps MK4/MK8 MS microphone set in my left hand and my iPhone in my right it was tough to stay steady and standing upright.

Thunderstorm: Fury is a massive collection of thunder and lightning cracks, claps, booms, and rumbles, as well as full Thunderstorm soundscapes. My largest Sound-FX Library yet! 18 Gigabytes of 32-Bit powerful and uncompromising North Idaho thunderstorms. Recorded over the last 4 years.

The 32-Bit files are the original source recordings with minimal modification. Digital clicks caused by electromagnetic interference were meticulously removed. No EQ, compression, limiting or noise reduction was used. The individual thunder claps, booms and lightning strikes can be used to build the perfect thunderstorm soundscape with ample head and tail for mixing and crossfading. The full storms approaching, overhead and fading showcase the furious storm cells that pass through North Idaho. Subtle rain, torrential downpours and fierce wind are also included.

The 24-Bit/96k cleaned and mastered recordings were carefully edited and processed to give you 40 ready to use thunder and lightning sounds to use in your projects with minimal to no fuss.

A majority of this collection was recorded with the Sound Devices Scorpio recorder which in my opinion captures the best 32-Bit Floating Point recordings. Schoeps and Sennheiser microphones were carefully positioned and protected to capture the raw power of the storms.
