Sit comfortably and with your best headphones or speakers as I present to you “Turning the Tide”, my very first Cinematic Suite ever finished.
It is an instrumental soundtrack which evokes a story, musically and that will make you delve you into many different moods.
Starting with a light theme that slowly progresses towards more depth and punch that then navigates between serenity and peacefulness then evolves into unsettling dissonance that plunges into dark, still and lifeless waters.
After this obscure period, you will be thrown back towards a new rhythmical and mighty theme with an oriental hint that will eventually bring hope and elevate you.
Afterwards, it would be wise to come back to reality.

The only samples are the kick, & the snare at the end. Everything else is old analog hardware synths.  No midi or sequencers;  the repeating patterns were lfo triggered & manually synced/edited.

« Rising From The Ashes » is the Monthly Release for January 2020.

a restless instrumental that evolved from an unusual chord progression i stumbled upon while noodling on the nylon guitar.

it evokes the indomitable loving energy that animates all that is alive, and which seemingly never stops surging and thriving onward even when the unthinkable happens and demise appears unavoidable.

the artwork was inspired by photographs of signs of life returning after the Australian bushfires.

no picks were used during the making of this recording, which is a first for me for this type of composition. after a lifetime believing that it was necessary to use a pick to achieve a certain level of virtuosity on the electric guitar, I had an epiphany over the holidays. while discovering the works of Matteo Mancuso, it became obvious that this limitation was only conceptual and didn’t actually exist.

Un arrangement dérangé, crée, enregistrée et réalisée en un peu plus d'une demi journée à mon studio satellitaire, rapido bongo !

Poligraf is currently hibernating, and probably not coming back to life, at least for the foreseeable future.

still, i have been writing new material steadily since the band was last active, and i plan to use this outlet to promote music old and new as it gets recorded and produced.

expect a mix of songs and instrumentals influenced from progressive rock and which have been written for Poligraf, singer-songwriter tunes that are closer in their essence to folk-rock or even pop, pieces for solo classical guitar, and occasional electroid experimentation. hope you enjoy the ride !
