Excellent use of pacing to create a contemplative vibe

Here we go!

This been pretty much my August - Project, surprise surprise, at my parents in law place - (gotta give it a magic name soon, might sound more "dope" instead of P A R E N T S  I N  L A W   P L A C E.) Haha.
Nonetheless, as "we" already know, the workflow and especially also the influences and what outcome that might be, is most of the times unpredictable and i just let it go - kinda -> go with the flow!

I realized, that i never did anything "fast", so why not just go 160 bpm! Ha! And then it happened and it grew and after that week i had it pretty much done. Turned out i went mad with the drums later on and worked another 3 weeks until i had them where i wanted it to be , along with some little FX automations and little subtle details here and there.

What is this? As i am releasing this, today on my, yeah, 40th birthday, i thought like: "Man, does that not herald the dawn of damn? Right?." Just a little joke. I really hope, that no one will think about me like that, and if there is a yes, then seriously go f.ck yourself, for real! :) There is so much happening, still this global pandemic going and then... there were a lot of news about the lost war in Afghanistan and that really bad times will be coming again. A country, which took so long to gain for instance rights for women and so on, will be pushed back in time and space. And i think that's pretty much it. 

I contacted my wonderful friend John Bucknall (https://www.instagram.com/johnbucknallart/) and asked him if he could draw the thing i had in mind - and damn, he did it!! I am proud that he agreed  and he really nailed it. I spare sharing any additional ideas and other stuff.. its really up to you....like "Have the track, see the picture and then there will be definitely enough space for your own interpretation of all of this." 

And yeah, i am not getting tired of thanking all of you for your support, your amazing and mind blasting music you put on the cloud, which keeps resonating, keeps me going, keeps me so hooked to all of you. I am feeling more and more home with all of you on my side. I befriended so many wonderful artists here, i have the possibility to collaborate with some, and also exchange thoughts, ideas, vibes and the most important "love"!

End of 2021 i will have my third anniversary here on Soundcloud and i am not getting a single millisecond tired of digging all your stuff , liking, commenting , reposting and experiencing it with my all my senses and especially my crazy brain dick!!!! You are amazing!

I've been trying to make Jazz music by electronic means for a while now. It's been pretty hard.

So much about the ethos of Jazz is dependent on the traditional notion of musicianship: a group of people in a room, trading improvised passages. So much of its tradition is shaped by virtuosos. The thing is, even though I play 'real' instruments, I don't play them well enough and also (and this might be strange to admit) I don't even like playing them that much. I started playing the saxophone when I was 15 and then went for 20 years without playing, I got back into it last year, but I don't really enjoy the process. So I sold it. Now I have a clarinet (because it's quieter, cheaper and sweeter), but I also got a wind synth.

Yeah, the wind synth is not the same, but it's close enough for what I want, it allows me to literally breath some emotion into what I play without it being loud or overly hard to intonate and I have a lot more fun this way. This track features me playing the wind synth.

But another part of Jazz is the collaboration. So I invited the amazing producer and guitarist @ubo-music to contribute some jazz guitar improvisation and that changed everything. It brought a totally new life to the piece.

Overall, the process was: write a very repetitive pattern for the keys and the bass, then use that to play the virtual sax. I sent that to ubo, who send back this guitar part. Based on his part, I then re-recorded a big chunk of the sax parts. After that, I went back and played the keys again to add flourishes and variations, same for the bass. For the drums, I used Superior Drummer and made a bit of a collage of midi parts (I love doing this, it's like sampling, but for midi.)

In the end, even though nobody played together, I hope it still feels organic and if it does, it's because we did collaborate and traded passages, only they didn't happen in realtime.

Honestly, it's strange calling it Jazz. I have so much respect for the roots and traditions of the genre, but it has also evolved so much since the early days in New Orleans that I think I'm entitled, just like everybody else, to bastardize it in whatever way I see fit.
