Naarm (Melbourne) based collective Butter Sessions celebrate over a decade in business with an extensive glossary of talented friends and affiliates pressed on a three-part compilation series. The label has always held the community closest, as exemplified by the 20+ artists featured over the three releases. Each 12” presents a grand soundscape anchored into the tenebrous energy of the dancefloor, with its inquisitive electronics and fierce pulse. If there was a definition for the Butter Sessions sound of ten years in the making, the answer lies here. 

The final compilation in the series commences with Time, a masterful blend of mid-tempo digi-dub and two step. Mosam Howieson gifts us Influx, a thick and hazy wedge of techno and Canada’s D. Tiffany serves up the mechanic and restless techno on a knife's edge in Cast the Trance. Ben Fester delivers Tumbo Rumblin, a leftfield slice of intergalactic electronics. Meanwhile, Furious Frank presents the electro and acid charged Blue Light while Makeda plays with genre expectations with the experimental composition Fable. Finally, the record's conclusion is Doordrms by Ben Keynes; dipping in tempo with acid drops, resulting in thoughtful IDM nuances.

Disc 3 - 10 Years of Butter Sessions

Written and produced by a close friend to the Mantissa family, this unnamed and elusive artist has helped us launch the label with a bang with three club focused, space inspired tracks designed to decimate a dancefloor or provide the soundtrack to an afters.

Space Cadet opens the extraterrestrial affair, weaving from acoustic elements to electronic and eclectic synth lines. The A side ends with Frozen Bounce, a wobbly number, woven together with quick cuts and jerky elements. U10A, the most structured of a complex affair is a warming club tool perfect for both, beginning and finishing an evening. It's remix is similarly suitable for any party specific scenario, produced by the infamously talented artist Ciel.

A Great Pink Thing

We like to present to you our new release with a selection of day one friends. The 12” starts with the euphoric rave anthem “Members of Warning 2021” by Giraffi Dog & Erik Jäähalli. A track title some of you might recognize which will bring peace and harmony to It’s followed by the heartwarming Hip Hop cut “Shout Outs” which is dedicated to da family and our sweet raver posse. The B side hits different as Henry 3000 is a G when it comes to baba Electro bombs while DJ Hummer understands to cool it down in trancy Westcoast Funk manner. A well balanced pack of diverse tunes wrapped once again in beautiful design by Guillaume de Ubeda.

With a fair amount of pride, Warning presents the debut EP of emerging artist JCow. Four fresh cuts that will stand the test of time. Opening with high energetic roller Magma on the A side, accompanied by Purity of Spirit, an uplifting basement Rave anthem. On the flip things get more twisted with Groove Ryder, a melange of funky Breakz, Trance and Trip-Hop. The Acid Fiend Mix of formerly digitally released Rave Patrol is completing this record with an overboarding composition of drums and JCow’s own guitar.

There was a moving shadow, it danced against a pale backdrop as the building was illuminated in the glow of the moonlight from up above. Some watched as she danced and contorted herself with wild passion and delicate grace, others were too busy lost in conversation to care or notice. This was a simulation, a world inside a CU, a computer unit was all that could imagine such beauty, it had to be. In the distance the sound of electronics and drums could be heard getting closer as the flickering stars danced like glitches upon a dense black matrix of processors and the night. 

none/such are a Michigan based record label and collective with impeccable taste. They have released a number of EP's and compilations which showcase their fierce knowledge of electro, techno and the spaces in between. On the 4th of December they will release a compilation of material from an array of artists in support of the Detroit Defense Committee, who work to defend all working class and oppressed people. The group is involved in coordinating and providing security for the daily marches organized by Detroit Will Breathe and are in the process of building coalitions and solidarity with other radical organizations in Detroit. 

This track is by O-Wells, the German producer, who has previously featured on the likes of Die Orakel and Live At Robert Johnson.

@kaspermarott will release his debut album ‘Full Circle’ in January on his own Axces Recordings imprint. The album features 11 tracks that explore different genres and moods, while remaining within Kasper’s colourful universe.

Full Circle demonstrates Kasper’s ability to play with layers and structure. The tracks are built from complex layered harmonies, looped melodies and different rhythmic textures. Kasper’s intuitive approach to production, in addition to the inspiration he finds in other genres, his local community and society as a whole, has resulted in an album that feels fresh and unique.
