since a bit of linear time has passed, I was undecided whether or not to post this mix. It began slowly, strangely, even confusingly... but from that point it was about digging out of the literal and metaphorical mud, and find the way flying. Looking back, I loved it all... this time spent in Crazy Paradise, where I needed to hold on and let go at the same time. There were the crazy dancers, one of whom accidentally pulled the plug with some serious moves but somehow became the perfect addition to the journey. Then came the rain that didn't relent for days, where many people left and many wonderful artists didn't get to play. So to all the messiness of the X year Garbicz, 
reflected here.

and here it is! the re-recording of my mira’s birthday live-set (if you were there, you might have realized that i experienced some small technical issues with my loops, i thought re-recording made justice to the effort put behind producing an almost new live-set for this special event). also thanks to the dancers that stuck with me even then, that meant a lot to me. 

a big thank you goes to @mira_kater for inviting me once more to this amazing event filled with so many talented and friendly artists which i truly admire since my early days.

The last two years I worked on a lot of new music material for my solo performances as Polymer. One performance I am still working on is the dancey stuff, and one performance that I can proudly present at this moment: the downtempo spacey dubby stuff. 

For S.U.N. Festival I finished a big part of my downtempo dubby stuff to perform live at the chill-out stage with a very special audiovisual performance.Together with my spanish friends Jan Barceló and Carles Tardío we came up with a system with which we could use a collection of analog old-school visual tricks to accompany my brand new two hour liveset. These handmade visuals were generated live and performed by Jan and Carles in real-time while I performed the liveset. 

Paints, inks, paper, clay, toys, photos, drawings, a microscope, cameras with kaleidoscopes, lights, a plasma ball, a lava lamp: everything we could find that fit the musical journey we used to put into the mix. We documented everything we did so we can show all of you who couldn't make it to the festival… The video is coming soon!

We had a blast on this crazy adventure! Thanks a lot to the S.U.N. Festival people, especially Snag, Tibor and Oleg, and of course all the people who danced and chilled their butts off while we played!

The more we live in the new realities, the harder it becomes to imagine what life would be like if the virus thing had not happened at all. It’s only a matter of time when we’ll run out of days we had planned before the pandemic, which became invisible pages in some unwritten book. We’ll then come to terms with the new days, realizing that we are going to divide life before the isolation and after it, stuck amid some incomprehensible present, a what-we-could-have-done past and the what-comes-ahead future. No matter how fast we come to terms with the fact that we need to redefine and re-plan everything, and no matter how soon we decide to abstain from planning anything at all, we are nonetheless going to have a small and insignificant feeling of regret for the days we thought were important and were going to change the way we felt and the way saw things. And those “unfulfilled days” will remain the only link between the former and future realities.
@vikenarman and @acidpauli’s six-hour set they played at @Rambalkoshe marked, in some sense, the beginning of their joint performances. They were supposed to play b2b all night long at Berlin’s Watergate club today to officially kick start the new chapter both of them were so passionate about. To celebrate such a milestone, we are publishing an excerpt from the set this unbelievable symbiosis played at Rambalkoshe a year ago and took around hundred people to a different dimension, filled with nothing but incredible and infinite energy.

Daniel Maalman a.k.a Polymer is an artist obsessed with sound in the broadest sense. From a young age Daniel was tinkering with computers and disassembling devices around the house to look how they worked. From the age of thirteen he started making electronic music with computers and tapedecks. Later, in art academy, his passion for sound evolved into building large installations, merging technology and sound, showing his sound obsession in an art context. 

Since many years Daniel moves back and forth between the world of electronic music, playing his music productions in parties and festivals as Polymer, and the world of sound art, exhibiting his creations as art installations. In the last years he has created collaborative ‘exhibition concerts’, with his project Foundscape Orchestra, where he makes musical compositions using industrial buildings, materials and objects as a sound source. These two worlds in which Daniels projects exist, sometimes collide and overlap, and sometimes run parallel to each other, but they always feed and inspire one another. 

Through his projects, Daniel wants to immerse the audience in a world of sound, where they can catch a glimpse of another world outside the mundane, and motivate them to playfully explore their inner universe.
