Blessed Madonna, Pete Tong, Gerd Janson, Ash Lauryn... the list of great DJs playing and loving Sam Ruffillo's very special italian disco music is long. With only 3 EPs on Toy Tonics, he might be the most talked about producer on the Berlin label (with Cody Currie and Coeo). One of his Italian disco songs from his last EP ITALIANISSIMO ("Chiamami Subito“) made it into the high rotation playlist of the biggest Italian pop radio and is still growing in the international club underground.

Now Sam comes with a new EP. And this EP shows his other side. Until now Sam has been known for his Italian organic disco songs (no samples, all instruments played live). But for his new BROOKLYN TAPES EP the Italo-Sicilian DJ, producer and super styler Sam Ruffillo worked with a few American rappers and soul singers to create what a New York critic called „post digital soul house music“.

In fact these 4 songs are house and electronic funk - but it's also rap music and R&B and disco. Played in a very modern way, musically colorful and complex and extremely groovy. It's dance music made by musicians - not by DJs. And that makes a big difference. The melodic and harmonic elements are catchy and clever, the chord progressions are beautiful and the syncopated bass lines make you think about great bass play by maestros like Bootsy Collins or Marcus Miller (musicians know them!). It’s a rap house & disco soul EP and it features a well known Canadian rapper (who decided to stay anonymous) as well as Edson Sean, soul singer and composer from New York.

For Toy Tonics this is one more step in the evolution of high quality dancefloor music for the future. Combining house with soul, jazz with 4 to the floor beats, disco with Indie, the Toy Tonics crew is working hard on new forms of quality dance music. And finding the most interesting new artists. With Sam Ruffillo, and the other American artists on Toy Tonics (NY singer Kosmo Kint, American jazz keyboardist Joel Holmes...) the label is bringing together what's internationally new in the dance world - with no borders and no limits...

Remixes for this EP coming soon by some of Sam's fans: Ash Lauryn from Detroit, Eli Escobar from New York and Art Of Tones from France.

Sam Ruffillo - Don't Think Twice (Instrumental)

Accompanied by his groovy bass, his keyboard, and his natural glibness, Georges is a real Swiss Army knife at the confluence of house, jazz and disco. After his first solo EP "Cagnard" and his EP in collaboration with the famous producer Bellaire "Contrasts", he discovered himself in "Sights" signed to Boogie Angst and progressively gained a large fanbase with an original, organic and singular music. Georges is back in october 2022 with a unique track, as he has the secret, with disco-funk inspirations. "Cheers" is the second extract from his future EP. Piano, bass and horns are featured in this original track, a cross between the electro mixes of Breakbot, Folamour or Dave Lee.

‘High’ is Orlando’s take on what could easily be an old Andrés track. Here, he samples a female vocal (I get high, I get high, I get high), and cleverly adds his own vocals to add depth and originality to the track. The percussion on high grooves in an effortless way and underlines the feel of this track: It’s fun, cool and incredibly funky. There’s a bit of Dam Swindle sauce on the mix to make sure this track hits the right spot on any dancefloor.

Endangered Musique kicks off with a high-quality reissue of an EP that deep house heads will either already know or soon grow to love. It was written by Jose Chinga in 1994 and is an alias of an artist better known as Brothers' Vibe aka Tony Rodriguez. 

The opening tune 'Love Is What You Need' is also the most well-known - it's US garage with low-slung drums and grainy pad work with a simple but effective vocal. 

'I Got You' picks up the pace with shuffling drums and a grinding lead before the warm 90s house sounds come to the fore again on 'Let It Go' and 'Riding On A Cloud'. Lovely stuff.

The new Toy Tonics comes from Italian disco producer Sam Ruffillo. 
He teamed up with two friends from Brooklyn who contributed the sick vocals to the 4 songs. And the result is kind of magic! 
Deepest street funk and Low rider Hip House in a 1990ies vibe - but still 100% up to date sounding. 
You can play this in a house or in a hip hop set and all tracks will create euphoria. ‘Just fine’ could be a radio hit for sure. But also the other tracks make you immediately move.. without being any cheesy or tacky. Just deep & funky.

Maybe Sam & his New York buddies are a magic combination. Sam comes from Sicily and released three EPs till now. 
The recent Italianissimo 1 + 2 EPs got a big scene buzz. Played by DJs like Gerd Janson, Blessed Madonna and Pete Tong. 
Ruffillo’s very individualistic Italian organic disco with Italian vocals (by Ninfa) made him quite known not only in Italy (where one of his songs is getting big in pop radios) but also internationally requested. As a DJ but also for production for other singers (Kosmo Kint, J. Lamotta).

Ruffillo is not just an excellent DJ and Studio wizzard, but he also is a musician. (No samples needed).
