The Notion is a 4 piece pop/alternative/rock band formed and based
in Randburg, Johannesburg in 2009.The band, all in their early 20’s,
represented and connected with the typical young suburban market.
Although the band have written some darker songs with a certain
angst to them, the general feel and mood of The Notion is an uptempo,
party rock vibe with clear influences of an American Pop Punk
culture, British Indie quirk and of course, straight up Rock. Above all,
the lyrical content is very well thought out, relatable and backed up
by some extremely hooky melodies. Put it all in a pot, let it boil, stir
frequently and the end result is some tasty music! The band decided to part ways in 2014 to pursue other avenues with Brendan and Spac still rocking out with Rubber Duc and 1st Project respectively.

Back in the day from 2007-2013, Twelv & Thesis played almost every major festival and club in the country with their unique blend of nonsense & bass. As well as playing alongside Local & International Legends such as SkiZM/Far Too Loud/Document One/ The CyberPunkers/Funtcase/Jenna G/Haezer/Double Adapter/Sibot/Mala/SchlatofBronx/Ali B/Gazelle/The FreeStylers/Crossman & Phizicst/Liver/Dank/Hugs on Drugs/Richard The Third/The Blunted Stunman/Niskerone/P.H. Phat/Jam Jarr/BTeam/Voicetag/Mix&Blend & More - Having met at the age of 2 in a sandpit it was inevitable that these lifelong friends would one day make music together.

Twelv & Thesis were difficult to categorise. They’re not your average DJ and MC combo, nor are they simply purveyors of Break-Beat and its brethren. With touches of electro and drum ‘n bass, a spoonful of glitch, and the ever present tooth rattling bass, one thing’s for sure: they make music designed to be partied to.

They had since taken over the likes of well-known Johannesburg haunts such as
An eclectic high octane blend of Electro, BreakBeat, Drum & Bass and Booty Shaking Getto Techtonic Beats, blended into a single unique sound, tied together with rhythms that are current and accessible to every South African.

Way back in the day Justin and Sean Braam conjured up a few tasty spells combining their styles and influences and from that beautiful spark of Chunk meets punk they refined the tastiness that is the NCBD style the world knows and cherishes today.
Childhood friends, brothers and heroes have come together and formed the punk rock game changer, No Chocolate before Dinner. 
Once Sean Braam and Brogan had wined and party pumped their way through 3 “Pop Chunk” tracks they approached the Chocolate Drummer/Human metronome/Leisure man Rob Storm.
With Rob taking the hot drummer slot, they set off to begin Pre-Production! After many nights and months spent in Rob’s Incredible Inter-Dimension Studio pre-producing the instrumentals and growing closer as Band mates/Lovers. Justin was let out of his barred enclosure and bestowed his dangerous vocal trickery all over the cheeky faces and behinds of the tracks with Brogans caring guidance at NCBD’s writing chamber and within seconds, the songs were born. 
in December 2012 the brethren of NCBD spent a fairy-tale 2 and half weeks at the dreamlike Alight Studios recording and engineering their own Debut EP. Things got very f*cking chunky as the songs came to life in their final arrangements.
No Chocolate Before Dinner is a band that has spent its short but glorious lifetime focused on loving fun (hard) and the never-ending pursuit of being the monarchs of Chunk, the music has grown and become a rollercoaster of energy with a splash and delish-lash of exhilaration.  
NCBD is without a doubt a band that is doing everything differently and intends to carry on changing the way music is played and delivered to the Galaxy.

Getting to know the Band:
Justin’s favourite food is Pizza and Sean Braam loves Prawns. Rob used to hang out with the wrong crowd of Pizza’s. Do not ask Brogan about that. Ever. Please don’t under estimate the power of Garlic Rolls.
If the band were a colour it would be: “Rouge-chúnk” 
NCBD started the charity “Teens suffering with No-Chunk in East Germany” for the children who are not fortunate enough to have chunk on their faces and around their bodies. One day the band hope to be delivering Chunk  to teenage girls and a few boys all over the world.
The same artist who designed Avril Lavigne’s Merchandise designed No Chocolate before Dinner’s beautiful logo. Benjamin Lande, the illustration and design God.  The band love him and so do you.

Jakkals 2.0 Bio
 
The ins and outs of creating music can be trying. Each vision must find its place amongst the others. What comes is messy, sweaty and fragmented. But sometimes things fall into place.
 
In early 2009, James Boonzaier and Tim King began fighting out impromptu rock in a whiskey-hazed Hout Bay store-room. After an embryonic period of experimentation, Jakkals made the move over its darling table mountain, setting up shop in the Salt River warehouse of their patron, Mike Berg. It was here that the band first found its voice; rock bravado, pop sensibility and sometimes dancey charm.
 In its first incarnation the then quartet garnered rapidly positive response and support from crowds in and around Cape Town. Among these were the venerated and sell-out Rocking the Daisies after party, the auspicious farewell of Woodstock’s Albert Hall and headline shows at the Assembly. Further, Jakkals has frequented the Waiting Room, Zula Bar and the veteran Purple Turtle and was invited to headline various private parties and artistic showcases since.
 
Having experimented with various arrangements, the band has settled as a three-piece, comprised of drummer, Tim King, bassist Mark De Menezes and singer/guitarist, James Boonzaier.
 Their single, 'Woah! Nelly', found popular, albeit underground acclaim, and following the release of their Trifle EP, their single ‘Rum Trifle was awarded sponsorship in the MK MVP project alongside The Plastics, Jack Parow, Van Coke Kartel and aKing. Their refreshed energy, renewed passion and an ever-evolving sound leave this trio pegged as a band to watch in 2013. 

Jakkals is beats that tap your feet; bass that nods your head and silence that leaves you caught in anticipation. It's melody that flutters your heart and crescendos that rouse; husky tones and rhythmic swing. It's sweetly melodic yet full of balls...

I've been playing shows around South Africa for quite a while and I even took some of my songs to the UK and Europe. Every now and then I get around to recording a song - this needs to happen more though. 

However, MY DEBUT EP IS BRAND SPANKIN' NEW AND AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW EVERYWHERE!!!

Colour me Kacey came to life in May 2012, when guitarist Kelly set out to find the perfect mix of female musicians with the ability to create an addictive sound that would stand out in the crowded SA music scene. Kelly teamed up with bass guitarist Nicole and vocalist Jess, who had both shared the stage with her in their previous band, Saving Insanity.  Guitarist Candice was next to join the line-up, fitting in perfectly with the dynamics of the band. Larissa joined the family in January 2013 when their previous drummer, Zanne Scholtz, moved on to pursue her drumming career.
 
Colour me Kacey have created a distinctive sound by combining the hardcore and indie influences of the band members. Their mission is to fuel their passion for music while, at the same time, displaying the sometimes underrated technical abilities of female musicians.
