“Stand With Us to Bless the Waters” is our prayer of solidarity for the Lakota Sioux Nation, & all the Water Protectors who have converged in North Dakota Standing Rock Reservation at the Dakota Access Pipeline. This is the first time in centuries that all the indigenous nations of Turtle Island (America) have come together in unity & guardianship for our Earth. This unprecedented tribal convergence has been catalyzed by the pipeline, but is representative of something much larger & more profound than a protest. 

In support for the situation in North Dakota, Amani Friend (Liquid Bloom) and Summit Jaffe (Numatik) were both separately inspired to create music for water and prayer.  Coincidentally, the two tracks were both finished at the same time on fall equinox and they were also written in the same key, making it ideal to interweave them into a one unified piece of music. While sitting in the New Mexico Hot Springs after Unify festival, Amani and Summit had the inspiration to curate this remix album. Producers from all over the world, like Earth Cry, Mystral, Soulacybin, Martin’s Garden, Ecometric, Gumi, and Twin Shape added their unique psychedelic downtempo flavors. Native elders like Black Fox Pomani, John Ball Running Eagle, and Yona FrenchHawk imbued the music with intentional water prayers. United together, we humbly offer this medicinal musical journey in support and healing. Water is Life!

Numatik (ft. Yona FrenchHawk & David Brown) - Stand With Us

This originally was recorded live at Free Motion Ecstatic Dance in Boulder on February 6th, 2017. I've since added and edited layers to make it be a nice morning meditation for you all to enjoy :)  
It's in the key of C so it corresponds with the root chakra, and features live nature recordings I captured in Mexico, and Israel. Also you will hear clips of the Muslim call for prayer and Jewish Davening (praying) as a statement of peace and unification. We are human beings experiencing life second by second. No reason to draw lines between one another when we can all be celebrated as individuals and a collective. Ganesha opens the roads marking the beginning of the album with the deep Tibetan prayer bowl laying the resonant foundation. The ancient Sanskrit mantra invokes the elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, Ganesha himself, offering freedom from obstacles in our path in order to manifest our individual and collective intentions.

Translation / Explanation:
Om/Aum is a sacred primordial sound & symbol that signifies the essence of all creation, consciousness or Atman. It is often recited at the beginning of all Hindu prayers.

Gam is the sound representing the energy of Ganesha himself - as remover of obstacles. It is his bija (seed syllable) mantra.

Shreem is a another bija (seed) mantra vibrating the essence of the goddess of wealth, Lakshmi

Ganapataye, another name for Ganesha and is the formal Sanskrit pronunciation of the god's name.

Namaha is difficult to translate literally, but its meanings include “it is not mine” and “in your essence, we bow to you.”
