The second episode of Faster Bars offers a journey through Modern Liquid DNB, Nu Jump Up and Darkstep. The tracks offered are unreleased and are mainly made around town using portable hardware.

Faster Bars Ep 2 (Urban Ops)

G. Meloni, aka PortableDJs (formerly known as Coffeetrim/FuriousStereo) is a producer and beatmaker of classic and modern urban electronic music.

He was born in 1982 in the southern part of Sardinia, one of the largest islands in Italy and the Mediterranean Sea. His parents' divorce at an early age and the limited availability of jobs on the island prompted him to study art and travel often.

Music was always present when he was growing up thanks to his older sister, who was a big fan of dance music and 90s pop. Music TV programmes, charts and the large amount of cassette tapes available in the house have somehow influenced his musical tastes since childhood.

It was only during high school that he began to take an active interest in music: it was between 1996 and the early 2000s that hip hop first reached its peak in Italy, with its local and national scene. 

Between late '99 and early 2000, having somehow inherited a second-hand PC, he started to produce some electronic music mixtapes on cassette and later on CD. Later, he expanded his equipment with Korg and Roland hardware; in 2005, he uploaded his first track to ccMixter under the name CoffeeTrim.

Between 2005 and 2011, he released numerous tracks and remixes, such as "Norine session (BeBrave club mix)", "Open your eyes (Long Island Remix)", "Rainha do Sol (F-Stereo 2007 remix)", "Where the love did go (Trim & Pun Magic Lamp Mix)" and "NASA (Trim & Pun Back 2 NY Remix)" among others.

In 2023, thanks to the maturity he gained from travelling, although the scene around him had changed a lot and a recent loss in the family, he decided to release new music with a new approach and under the name PortableDJs: this name had originally been intended for the duo project with S. Baccoli (Pun), who was however now out of the music scene.

PortableDJs' sound now, unlike in the past, is more focused on European urban sounds, such as Grime and UK Drill. His comeback single, 'You Recall Me' released in mid-2023, has generated hundreds of listens and received acclaim from communities and underground radio stations. 

Between 2023 and 2024, he released numerous single tracks, such as 'Southern Drill', 'Vibin' and 'Estate Bars Pt.1' to name a few, scoring thousands of listens worldwide on Spotify.
