Red Axes is a project of Tel-Avivian friends Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik. They have been making music together since a long time. At first, guys were involved in a new wave/post-punk band but about 6 years ago they decided to make electronic music inspired by their old roots. Their home label is well-known “I’m a Cliché” but also have close relations with Jennifer Cardini's  imprint “Correspondant”. New album by Red Axes “Ballad of the Ice” will be released on Cliché in the end of April.

A Waje deberían conocerle de episodios tan gloriosos en la historia del clubbing subterráneo madrileño como son 8Z8 y el Colectivo Robotique, y ahora los proyectos Orbita y Moebium.  

Hay que decir que los de Post Club hemos crecido con Waje como profesor de escuela, mamando ávidamente de sus sesiones todoterreno en Specka en las que conjugaba con maestría electro, techno, drones y cualquier estilo nacido en los 80, ya sea New Beat, Industrial, EBM, Cold Wave y un largo etcétera. Lo que siempre nos dejó a cuadros es su capacidad para cambiar de estilos siempre logrando sonar a él mismo, amén de una técnica excelsa que le permite aguantar las mezclas un larguísimo tiempo. Pese a su veteranía, Waje siempre está al tanto de las novedades y siempre ha sabido incorporar nuevos lenguajes a su engrasada paleta de ritmos maquinales. El otro día tuvo a bien abrir el concierto de Esplendor Geométrico en el Centro Cívico Delicias de Zaragoza y que mejor para rebootear nuestra serie de podcasts que la sesión enlatada de tan ilustre evento. Dj since 1989, which has allowed him to have a very extensive and enriching musical bacground, and enjoy and work with different styles from the earliest electronic of the 70s, to the sounds wave, synth, Industrial and Ebm of the 80s, and the techno, trance and electro of the 90s.
From 95, bet more on the electro newschool which resurges in Detroit and Central Europe (Drexciya, Aux 88, Ectomorh, Anthony Rother, Carl Finlow, IF, ...)
From then on, he created the collective Robotique with dj Fake, to develop sets exclusively of electro in Madrid's underground scene, which then only fed on techno and house.
By Robotique the little Madrid scene happened by then (Electrosher aka Alek Stark, Groof aka R. Calvin, Dr.Smoke ...).
Later, together with dj Awco, he created the authentic Electroclub 8Z8, making room for an entire cast of electro, counting on national and international lives of greats such as Ideograma, Alek Stark, Dark Vektor, Luke Eargoggle, Syllicon Scally, Manasyt, Cosmic Force , Minimal Rome crew, Kobol Electronic, Teslasonic .., Microthol and many more.
Currently, in addition to continue betting on the genuine electro, performs and produces events such as Moebium where he gives free rein to the most dance sound plagued by electro, Ebm and techno. In addition to his other Orbita project, flooded with cosmic, experimental and industrial electronics.
Waje is a dj who has always looked for something more, nonconformist with trends and fashions.
He is considered a teacher, both for his technique in the mixes, risky and improvised 100%, as his musical background, his sets are chair, always learned.

Postcast #002: Nubdub

Todos sabemos muy bien quien es HD Substance. Y quien no lo sepa, que vaya cogiendo las orejas de burro y el capirote y se ponga cara a la pared. Postcast bromas con el tema.

Lo que igual desconocéis de Don Luis Rozalén es que desde el primer momento nos mostró su apoyo, motivo por el cual le nombramos Caballero de la Orden del Armadillo. Tres golpes con la espada de Burial, hombro, cabeza, hombro. Ya estás dentro: Se entra con sangre y se sale con sangre. Blood in, blood out. En los oídos, a poder ser. Así que esperamos que nos sea leal o que sepa esquivar bien los golpes en el patio de la trena.

Probablemente embargado por la emoción del momento, el amigo HD Substance nos entregó un set de tres horas de duración, pero le dijimos que a ver si nos iba a romper el Sanclaus, por lo que muy amablemente y atendiendo a razones, redujo la sesión a una hora. Sesenta minutazos de musicote, así en cristiano. Y probablemente en moro también. Atiendan a la llamada a la Mezquita del Bass, miren a la Meca y peregrinen hasta Jartiago de Postcostela, porque tenemos bendiciones y bofetones sónicos para todos.

Y aquí viene el esperado párrafo en el que te explicamos que las cajas y los bombos, y los charles y los technos y los jauses están perfectamente ordenados porque te lo decimos nosotros, que sabemos mazo de esto. O como dirían algunos: BLV.

Con Dios. O con Alá. Pero siempre con Burial en nuestros corazones, amigosh.

Postcast #003: HD Substance

Si no escribimos los textos que acompañan los Postcast hasta el día mismo de su publicación, es por orden expresa del Jartísimo. Sabe que nos gusta enredar con las palabras y que nos deleitamos mientras complacemos nuestros egos de plumilla frustrado.
Por eso nos obliga a hacerlo los lunes. Porque los lunes en la Casa del Bass se respira olor a “Goma, Sodoma, Gomorra”, que decía aquél. Vamos que solemos estar de resaca: el cerebro más reseco que un cacahué, el ánimo más apático que una ameba y la boca como la suela de las alpargatas de Ussain Bolt.
Pero, non ti preocupare. Que si vosotros también lo estáis, en esta ocasión, la impecable sesión que nos ha entregado KNS os va a quitar la tontería de un plumazo.
Os advertimos, pues -no vaya a ser que lo que os mole sea estar de bajona y con una pedrada de cojones- de la bofetada sonica que estáis a punto de escuchar, si no es que estáis haciéndolo ya, mientras leéis estás inútiles palabras. Porque todas las palabras al respecto lo son, excepto las últimas: Techno y 100%Vinilo.

“I was quite flattered and was glad that ‘Condo’, one of my lesser-know tracks, was being appreciated. (I was also curious, because the most-viewed clip of ‘Condo’ on Youtube is actually a slowed down version: someone played the 12” 45rpm EP at 33 rpm. The result, however, is quite beautiful.)

I responded, said I hoped we could meet the next time I am in London, and Nik then suggested that she had a track that she was working on, and would I like to listen to it and possibly collaborate. I am always game for a new challenge, so I said sure and Nik sent an mp3.

I was immediately struck by the haunting and evocative nature of the track, the analog synths feeling fresh and familiar at the same time, the vocals having a primal quality of breath and phrasing. I loaded the track into Ableton and instinctively began recording some overdubs. I used analog (Prophet 5) and digital (Moog iPad) synths and a soprano saxophone. I then sent a mix to Nik.

Nik responded quite positively, and over the next few weeks we exchanged files back and forth, experimenting with different mixes and submixes. After a couple of dozen rough mixes, accompanied by email discussions among the three of us (Gabe had entered the process after the first few exchanges,) we settled on a final mix. Shortly after we had a final mix, I synchronized the track with a video that my partner Kit Fitzgerald was working on. This long extended shot fit the music perfectly, and we had a video for ‘Beachcombing’. (A still from this video serves as the artwork for the 12”.)

Initially, there was going to be a one-sided 12”, with ‘Beachcombing’ the only track. Nik then wrote to me that Dominic was also interested in working on a track, and would I be interested in working on a B-side with Dom. Of course, I readily agreed, and I received an mp3 of synth tracks. As previously, I began building up tracks, using the alto sax (rather than the sopranino used on Beachcombing) and the addition of a vintage Korg vocoder.

Once again, a series of file exchanges of mixes, submixes and discreet tracks ensued, and we finally settled on mix #26a. There is kind of a sweet quality which surprised the both of us.”

Peter Gordon and Factory Floor - Beachcombing

Todos sabemos que Post Club es sinónimo de dubstep. Esto lo sabéis vosotros como público y nosotros como organizadores. Pero al Armadillo le suda su jartísima entrepierna. Tanto se la suda, que incluso osa desafiar al Jartisimo, imponiendo en más de una ocasión su desfasada visión de la música electrónica. Para que os hagáis una idea, bien sea mediante la intimidación -muchos pensaréis que el jodido animalejo ese es manso, pero cuando enseña las garras asusta-, bien mediante la seducción -que no veáis como le sientan los conjuntos de lencería fina...- El caso, y sin entrar en detalles de cómo ha conseguido convencernos, él ha querido romper de nuevo la armonía de Post Club forzándonos a incluir, por segunda vez consecutiva, un Postcast que no tiene nada que ver con el dubstep. Y sí, la respuesta, en el caso de que os lo hayáis preguntado: se trata de otra maldita sesión de techno. ¿Os lo podéis creer? A ver, nosotros respetamos la labor del DJ, en este caso Irazu, pero sin desmerecer en nada su trabajo, a nosotros lo que nos va es el... Por el Amor del Jartísimo, ¿tan difícil es de entender? Ahora nos tenemos que comer sesenta y cinco minutazos de technaco fino, fino. ¡Qué le vamos a hacer!

Postcast #005: Irazu

Con POST CLUB nace una propuesta musical en la capital, un nuevo concepto de club enfocado a la música electrónica avanzada con periodicidad mensual. POST CLUB ofrecerá una cuidada programación musical sin olvidar la diversión y el hedonismo, que harán que vuelvas a casa con el alma henchida y el cuello roto. Por nuestra cabina desfilarán tanto la flor y nata de la bass music, como paladines del techno, así como los francotiradores más eclécticos e inconformistas de la electrónica. Todo ello poniendo especial énfasis en el sistema de sonido para alcanzar el nivel de presión sonora necesario para el disfrute de una música rica en graves.
