Refraction of Light encompasses a swarm of sonic apparitions from 17 geographically linked artists. The compilation glides through an array of mesmerizing sounds; from slithering trance and crystalline techno to surrealistic DnB and entrancing electronica. A vast collection of moods spanning dawn to dusk.

The HgB capsule emerges on Amniote Editions on 23rd June. The artwork is designed by Camilla Louisa.

Amniote Editions acknowledges this EP was put together on the land of the Woiwurrung & Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land and pay our respects to their elders past, and present. Sovereignty was never ceded.

Najash - Quantum Critical [Presented By Amuwa]

Nerve Collect co-founder Gamma Intel follows up label partner Identified Patient's inaugural release with his thrilling E.M. EP. Across six club-ready cuts, the Dutchman explores the spaces where bass, techno, electro and acid all intersect. E.M. is available in digital and physical 12'' format.

On the A side 'Little Mirror Man' opens up with an elastic but thumping broken beat. A flurry of jungle drums rain down next to scratched metal stabs, bleep-techno melodies and all underpinned with heavy bass rumbles. 'Save Pair of Hands' doesn't let up, with knick-snapping hits and earth-shattering bass weight. As heavy as the groove might be, there is still plenty of room for deft synth designs to bring plenty of emotion. On '5AM-SBM' you are tugged in many directions at once - nimble drums dart about beneath prickly percussion and flaming hits that have a mind of their own. Although the low end is distorted, the details up top are well-defined and given plenty of space to make their mark.

The flipside takes off on turbocharged techno-electro fusion 'Sleep and Cry.' It's a devastating and visceral drum track that also packs an emotional punch as celestial chords suspend you at the doors of heaven. 'Panthera Leo' soundtracks the end of the world as acid lashes about amidst controlled but unrelenting drum chaos and finally, the drilling bass and frantic drum programming of 'Trust' is another all-powerful club track. Its dark energy sucks you in for a white-knuckle ride to remember.

This EP finds Gamma Intel pulling off plenty of unusual tricks and twists on his way to conquering the dance floor.

NRW NRG:

NRW NRG is a newly formed Berlin based label with Düsseldorfian roots. Shaped by sounds encountered in and around the Salon des Amateur Dunstkreis, NRW NRG seeks to push the spirit of the initiative based contemporary club scene. The label’s debut EP Solar Flex is a product of the members perspectives taken from DJ’s, producers and visual artists point of views. The release will open the space for artists from their own and other rows in the future.



DJ Gerhardt:

DJ Gerhardt is a Berlin based DJ and producer. After a feature on a V/A compilation on Super Utu, Solar Flex marks his debut EP, fusing his affection for 90’s energized dance music and contemporary club sounds. Next to productions, DJ Gerhardt hosts the show ‘RIPS in Peace’ on Malmö based Retreat Radio and takes part in the music collective Soilseek.



Solar Flex:

Solar Flex draws inspiration from 90s club oriented dance music and sets moods from laid back outdoors to prime time club nights and after hours. On the A-side ‘Stepping Toward Zen’ prepares for the mental workout with shivering chants that gain consciousness to rhythmic tablas and spacious bleeps. Next, mysterious energies set free with ‘Entropica’ unfolding its wobbly dub baseline to the enigma of pitched cymbals and robo-rhythms aligned by the steady-state of a bouncing four-to-the-floor 909 kick. ‘Supernature’ pops the B-side with a more club-oriented electro-trance blended stomper soothed by watery pads that set a pause before straight breaks and alien leads ask for their sweaty tributes. Finishing off, ‘Tablagauze’ primes for after hours with a gnarly downtempo chugger speckled with overdriven analogue drums and hypnotic acid arpeggios.
