Helsinki based Common Labour gives birth to its second offering on this limited vinyl only release.

Continuing in the same vein of quality twisted deep house, pothOles unravels the Mahla EP. The title track Mahla gets the juices flowing with a hypnotic deep house groover. Serenades head honcho Roberto Rodriguez takes the remix reins and works Mahla into a more percussive and refined interpretation. It's an honour having him on the Common Labour imprint.

On the flip side, Gambler sleazes off into B-grade Italo disco spaghetti western territory. A possible soundtrack to a horror flick with Kenny Rogers stumbling into a truckers rest area after a messy night out. Rounding off the EP, Spoekhus picks up the pace and mood giving the handbag circle some ammo to shuffle their stilettos too. Cementing another polished offering from this artisan label.

A1 To start things off we proudly present Powel, who's EP (hands down the best EP of 2013) on Fina Records was what got us stoked to work with this producer. Swivel Fold is a slice of classic deep house that sends shivers through the goose bumps.
A2 Gambler by pothOles gets a total new interpretation from Saine - dubbed out, laid-back and lost in the jungle. Saine has fresh releases on Sleazy Beats Black Ops and Odd Socks under his belt, Finlands best export at the moment.
B1 Blasts off with Ghost Of Lust by Jussi-Pekka. The Frozen North main man with releases on Dessous and Poker Flat shows us that Norwegians aint the only cosmic cowboys in town. This italo-esque track is a sure shot for the hot summer months ahead.
B2 To complete the package Cossway shows his skills with a more techno driven floor filler as Boxwise unravels its percussive loop of Hollywood’s Devilish leading man. Simple, moody and effective. Watch out for Cossway's artist album due out on Moscow's finest, Deepology.

Originally released in 2009, this standout remix package followed the release of Steve Bug’s fourth full artist album, Collaboratory, which dropped earlier that year to widespread acclaim. The album captured Steve’s dedication to forward-thinking house music, teaming up with a stellar cast of collaborators including Gigi, Donnacha Costello, and Simon Flower.
Collaboratory Remixes Vol.1 brought fresh interpretations from Ribn, Motor City Drum Ensemble, and Sven Tasnadi, and still holds up today.

Ribn (aka Manuel Tur and Langenberg) deliver a deep, dubby, Detroit-tinged take on “Like It Should Be” featuring Gigi. Their Translucent Vox Remix builds with patience, drawing you in with a long, atmospheric intro before locking into a driving, bass-led groove that honors Gigi’s sultry vocals.

Motor City Drum Ensemble brings the heat with a raw house twist on “Still Music,” the Bug and Costello collaboration. Loaded with late 80s and early 90s drum machine attitude and bubbling keys, it’s an acid-tinged workout that still burns.
Sven Tasnadi rounds things out with a tight, tracky remix of “Passing Clouds” (Bug and Simon Flower), fusing melancholic synth lines with solid drums and a modern tech-house edge.

From the vibrant shores of Portugal to the pulsating heart of Berlin, Jepe has carved out a unique and captivating presence in the global electronic music scene.

Jepe's musical journey began in Aveiro, a coastal town near Porto, where he was drawn to the rhythmic energy of the ocean. At just 16 he had his own radio show, and by 19 he was already commanding the decks at one of the biggest clubs in his hometown. 

As one half of duo Johnwaynes, he made waves with releases on   Mulemusiq, Compost Records, Get Physical, and Cecille. And in 2013, Jepe embarked on a solo path, spanning top labels such as Diynamic, Moodmusic ++. 

As founder of rising label Eastern Standard, Jepe is also a visionary curator. And as a skilled mix engineer at Berlin’s renowned Blackhead Studios, he cultivates his perfectionism in both analog and digital rhythmical landscapes.

Louis Baker - Keep On (Andre Lodemann Instrumental)

Daniel W. Best first heard Louis Baker, a New Zealand-based soul singer, perform "Keep On" as the opening act for Fat Freddy's Drop at the Tempodrom in Berlin in 2024. He knew he wanted to create a remix package of the song. His label partner, Andre Lodemann, was also impressed when he heard the track, so he did a remix himself. DJ Philippa and Hollis P. Monroe also delivered amazing remixes. There is something for everyone here. Stay tuned for Part 2 of the remix package on Best's Friends Music, featuring remixes by Delfonic, Larse, and Gush Collective.

Louis Baker is one of New Zealand’s most compelling voices in modern soul. Hailing from Newtown, Wellington, Baker crafts timeless songs with rich vocals, honest lyricism, and deep grooves rooted in soul, R&B, and jazz. His breakout came early—selected from 4,000 global applicants to attend the Red Bull Music Academy in New York—collaborating with legends like Just Blaze, Q-Tip, and Brian Eno.

A1 Mirage Man, born Roope Karhunen, has fingers in many pies. Producing, performing and steering two record labels, this man does it all. Fusion of noisy and raw rhythm section, sub bass and dub stabs in this track make a mean combo.
A2 Common Labour head honcho pothOles is back again with a funky tool. Tabarnac is a mixture of live drumming and 303 licks in a skilfully produced manner. Dreamy yet refreshing.
B1 Roberto spins silk with his old school rendition of the future - a fusion of deep house, latin, old school electro. Surprisingly functional and unique combination which will challenge the audience to bust a few breakdance moves on the dance floor.
B2 Another ace from Tuomas Salmela’s sleeve. The trippy and balearic composition of Feroxified takes the listener on a soothing journey that guarantees euphoric sensations. Sterling track for most occasions.
