This is a studio mix, started with an initial live take and then combed over meticulously with automated filters, eq, and fx. This is the same setup I use to play out, minus the automation. There is rarely a point when only one track is playing. I always try to find mixes that feel like a new track emerges from the combination. I imagine the optimal listening environment to be eyes-closed with headphones on, but I also hope you will feel an irresistible urge to move at some points ;)

Ho ho ho, the mystery-shrouded Rrose - named after Marcel Duchamp’s eponymous persona, punches in right on cue for Xmas with an absolute monster of a two-hour jaunt into their exquisitely twisted headspace. Having served up some of the finest techno slabs of the past decade through the likes of Sandwell District, Stroboscopic Artefacts and now their own dedicated imprint, Eaux, Rrose steps in the series with a bonkers mix of dusty techno hustle-and-bustle, neatly alternating sequences of pumping 4x4 aerobatics, searing, noise-adjacent outbursts and eerie melodies to hypnotic effect. A constant balancing act of raw power and haunting score, Rrose’s RYC mix takes us on a deep and fascinating trip into genre-unbound territories, where only abandon and wildness reign supreme. ANP003 | Christopher Ledger - Access Denied EP

There must be something in the Barcelonian water, as today we’re happy to premiere a track from a recently developed anonymous project called Bastien. Formed as a new expression of music from the Spanish cities rich scene, the source unknown, yet the quality incredible as always. The 10 track release is a masterclass in rich, emotive Ambient that marks the second fantastic release on Spanish label ‘Red Edge’. With whom we’ve worked with in the past to premiere a prior Absis release.

Ralentir starts off strong with a bouncing melody, flipping up and down, giving movement and a lighter atmosphere joined by a few disembodied voices providing an otherworldly effect. This effect is amplified by a uniquely elongated bass line that takes a listener farther out into the experimental planes, and contrasts nicely with the bright melodies.

Ralentir and the remainder of the ‘Temps Boro’ release will be out on Red Edge, April 8th.
