June 17th sees the release of Of Unsound Mind ‘Remixed' LP. Label owner Skream asked all artists who have released on the label to remix a track from the catalogue, with the label fast approaching release number 20 from Skream himself its a retrospective look at the label with a twist, breathing new life into a body of music from the last two years since the labels inception.

Last year we saw the guys behind ”The Glitz”, Daniel Nitsch and Andreas Henneberg, release their first album “NO DRAMA” together on their label ”Voltage Musique Records”.

Through the 14 tracks we gained insight to their life philosophy where ”No Drama” refers to their attitude towards life. Long time friends and partners showed that even though having completely different characters, life is easy when you treat each other well.

The different influences as well as Andreas’ and Daniels’ musically diverse background were the most important bricks in the foundation of a very independent sound silver lining the album. What fascinated and excited people all over the world was an incredible combination of clear traces of Downbeat, Triphop, Jazz and funk next to the very club friendly tracks. This contributed to the tracks being played by the biggest names on the biggest stages all over the world, for instance by Carl Cox and Yousef at Circus, Technasia, Edu Imbernon, Pirupa and Riva Starr on multiple occasions, and Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg choosing “Dirty Bride” as their intro for the “Ultra Music Festival 2015”.

Taking all of this into consideration you can see why it was not an easy task for the guys to find the perfect remixer for each and every song. It was important to have artists in the project, which had a clearly unique style, and the possibility to transfer and shape completely new interpretations of the songs they hold dear. After a long period of searching, they ended up with an impressive list of names, hailing from all possible electronic music genres.

With them on this project they have Yousef, DJ Pierre, Rick Wade, Of Norway, ZDS, David Keno, Agaric, Italoboyz, Smash TV and many more. The release is split into five, with the first one coming out September 5th on their own imprint Voltage Musique Records, so stay tuned!

The ever eclectic Psycle label welcomes back core artist Pow-Low for a series of three remixes that show off a broad range of excellent styles.
Pow-Low is a student of jazz star Pierre Favre, has been playing live since 13 and releasing music on vinyl since 17. He is skilled on the synclavier system, has worked at the legendary Record Plant studio in Hollywood and as in-house engineer at South Africa’s Bop-Studios, and has mastered for Peter Gabriel as well as producing huge thrash metal act Coroner and being lead singer and producer of No Religion, the world’s first techno-metal band. He has already released to great success on this label last year and has organized (and played) several big outdoor festivals in Zurich.
The fantastic opener here ‘Cargo Cult (Remix)’ has a lively funky beat with elements of 2step and UK garage. The breakdown has sublime sound design, a long reverb-tail turning into a groove and the drums morph into a synth and back to bring a thrilling and floor shaking deep house style.
The superb ‘Fibonacci’ remix is very groove orientated with slamming percussion and rhythmic vocal samples, while the classy chord structure is reduced to rather jazzy chops that will get hands in the air and offer plenty of real emotion.
Last but not least, things turn into minimal techno territory on ‘Dinner Party’ (Original Remastered 2019) which has a swinging-groove and tons of rhythmic granular effects. It has a fantastically big bass sound and more slick breakdowns that show off Pow-Low’s studio skills and ability to cook up standout chords and modulation-effects which lend the whole thing such class and character.
All tracks here have been artistically crafted with a real depth and warmth of sound that defines everything Pow-Low does.

Psycle’s expertly curated catalogue continues with a new addition from Pow-
Low that comes hot on the heels of his Inhale EP back in June.

Pow-Low is a core part of this label and keeps serving up the goods with each
new offering. He hails from the Italian part of Switzerland but his musical
endeavours have taken him all over the world. He’s formally studied jazz, been
playing vinyl since his teenage years, studied recording engineering and
production and worked in high end studios in Hollywood as well as being in a
number of bands.

The charming title track opens up this release with lively house music that is
enriched with warm, smeared chords, bubbly bass and an inviting,
heartwarming vibe. ‘Studio’ is another deep but driving track with bass and
synths that melt around each other as jazzy hi hats spin up top.
The classy, good time grooves continue with ‘nowER,’ which has deft little bass riffs sticking out of a gooey groove and cosmic pads adding to the superbly stylish feel. Luzern jazz-school band, Colster feat. DAENS provide the next offering, deftly remixed by Pow-low, ‘Around The World (Pow-Low Remix)’ is a superbly soul-drenched track with lounge-y chords and effortlessly smooth rolling kicks and vocals. Offering something more minimal, freaky and late night is the excellent ‘Son of a Beat’ (2019 remaster) which is a busy track with rich layers of synth, keys, samples and perc all scurrying above a restless rhythm. This is brilliantly colorful house music that exudes real soul and charm from start to finish.

Great Stuff Grooves returns to bring some electronic warmth into your winter, with a dozen hot tracks from producers across the world, both established and upcoming.

David Penn kicks off with a fusion of filtered fun and chunky techno intent on I get High. From there, Spanish trio David Amo, Julio Navas &amp; Marc Maya whip up a sizeable tribal groove on La Policia, passing the baton on to Filthy Rich and his nu skool speed garage romp Rave In A Cave. Ridney keeps it on a UK tip with the euphoric pianos and arpeggios of 13:37, before Boris&#8217; druggy Funky Bells shows that this compilation offers up deeper shades of techno too.

Need more funk? Mike Newman &amp; Hoxton Whores&#8217; Every Sound has it by the bucketload, as does Tom Wax&#8217;s rolling, refreshingly different acid-bassed Let&#8217;s Groove On. Roy Rosenfeld&#8217;s Knock Knock is just bugged-out as hell, resplendent of quirky grooves and messed-up vocals, leading us towards the measured big room pumping of Paul Strive&#8217;s The Chance. Raul Mezcolanza&#8217;s A Reality treads a similarly bubbly path, before Townston &amp; Delgado take a more playful approach with the deft stabs of Groovesolution. It&#8217;s left to Alec Chizhik &amp; Markus Mehta to give the compilation a more demure finale, with the subtle machinations of Monolith.

As ever, it&#8217;s a no-nonsense selection that&#8217;s aimed squarely at the dancefloor. It&#8217;s the sound of winter; only a little hotter&#8230;
