Rodell F. Hollins Jr.

My name is Rodell Hollins Jr. I was born April 23, 1981. My mother was Sylvia Patterson, and my father was Rodell Hollins Sr. It was in 1987 when our parents moved me and my brothers and sisters to Dorie Miller Projects in Gary, Indiana. We grew up as a low income family, and as the years went by I knew that I wanted to be in control of my financial future. It was in 2001 when I knew that cutting hair was not going to be enough for the plans that I had for my upcoming life. I knew in my heart and soul that I would work hard and get myself exactly where I wanted to be with my love of music. I knew too that once I got there I would be able to give back to the place I called home and where I grew up which was Dorie Miller Projects.

I always had a passion for music. My parents loved music. Being low on money growing up I did not have all of the recreational options that kids have today, but I always had music available to me. As a pre-teen and would hear a song and I would say, that has gotta be a hit. Sure enough my skill to select hit songs was a match each time.

A life changing event for me was when Breon Richards, aka Bre Ske, as well as Milton Mallett aka Mile, and Lavar Davis aka Vosco came out with a hit. I was amazed. I was blown away, because it was actually very good. They ended up coming out with a whole cd and I would play it endlessly. They were simply making music and hoping all the while that it ended up in the right hands. I told them directly that their cd was much better than they thought. They laughed.

From that point on I knew my dream was to move music. I knew that I wanted to put Dorie Miller Music on the map. There is a lot of talent in the area, and I believe that with the right motivation and direction we can work towards being the next Cash Money or Def Jam. So this is me. I want to use my love, talent and use music to move the world.
