Kris Baha returns with Livewire, a 3-track EP that marks the beginning of his next evolution: a collision of late 90s tribal-psy trance, techno breaks, and progressive grooves, romancing the chaos and dust of a Spiral Tribe doof.

The title track Livewire is the sound of shedding skin. Starting off like some lost crystal method cut, Kris sings ‘Flowers of Steel & Crystal’ - the first metaphor of this alternate reality which quickly mutates to a shape-shifting journey that moves like a multi-dimensional rave dream. Echoes of the inner self reminding you to keep listening to the voice within, re-amplified by the main dusty lead before the final liquid psy bassline slips in and warps us through to the other side. Somewhere in the static, a voice remains: “There’s a livewire through you.”

‘Livewire” channels the wired chaos of the 90’s era artists such as The Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Underworld, Lunatic Calm, Crystal Method, and the ghost of the Hackers OST reimagined for now.

Kiss of Life pays homage to the proto-progressive trance and house of the 90s—looped, distorted vocal hooks and pulsing acid lines weave in and out like memories from another dancefloor.

Then comes The Phase - which kicks up the dirt of the doof and goes down the spiral further. Infectiously groove based with a classic lead surprise half way through, something we have heard before but not quite like this.

Livewire EP [PS015]

It’s not so often that a record finds its way to you that truly resonates at your core, I’m sure you have had that feeling, where time and space melts away, transforming your immediate surroundings, making you question if you really knew who you were as what you are hearing just transports you to another realm. ‘Avoidance’ is that record for us at PS HQ by Francesco Kay or as he is better known, Fall Shock. The Italian electronic music producer, drummer and singer is an all encompassing musical artist transcending his physical bounds, drawing from higher planes of the creative ether, a place only few humans know how to tune into and draw signals from. I would say this is due to his long career crafting his output. Striking the balance and complexity of human emotions, interwoven between urgency and restraint, specific intentions to engage, to make you listen, to make you dance, to make you FEEL. We are psyched to announce the first EP and a new era from Fall Shock.

In the Age of Clowns - most clowns no longer work in the circus but their offspring now live amongst us, following their past lineage, using the tools of social media to carry out their deep primal desires to want the spotlight, at any cost, for a day, for a month only to throw is away after a year. The clowns are all around us, subverting all factions of society, subverting the fabric of what we love, democracy, freedom, art. We didn’t ask for this version of reality. The overall arching theme of the track interprets this current dilemma we find ourselves in like a failed social experiment, spiraling through a vortex of confusion, following the command to Copy, paste, repeat, because everyone else is doing the same thing. Gibberish high pitched voices phasing in and out before we are struck down by the iron kick and bass, grounding ourselves in the now, a reminder that not all hope is lost in the age of clowns.

I have found myself once again toying with the idea of music as magic, maybe even hypnosis, a point in case with Avoidance which is the namesake EP title and is a potent club banger. Existing in a space undefinable, with an overly machine driven sonic palette, nostalgic influences of 90’s and early 2000’s dance music emitting from the UK but ultimately existing as its own sonic piece. Once we arrive at the pitch bend lead that slowly rises we’re here, energetic, aggressive but safe, as if it were a living being with a rebellious mind that has awakened after a period of glaciation. Now everything is hope and new life, I feel you.

Avoidance and The Age Of Clowns are part of a single path, a single concept of tracks suitable for people who never give up. Francesco masterfully crafts his past lineage, hinting nostalgic dance floor feelings while zooming into the zeitgeist of the future for his project Fall Shock.

'Into The Dark' is @krisbaha 's latest single for 2021, delving into the live music sensibility of Kris's production skillset, coming full circle to his former songwriting background. The song is a confrontational introspection haunted by anxiety, vulnerability and self examination while trying to hear through the noise over the last 6 months.

The saturated synth punk baseline drives the song through the minds highway, pulsating industrial sequences, grating leads intertwined between whispery shoegaze-esque vocals sung by Kris. All the while the warning siren reverberates in the distance.

‘Into the Dark’ mirrors the feeling of late 80’s / 90’s musical transitional phases in the Industrial/ Wave scene and in some way is reflective of Kris’s current musical direction as he presents himself in a different shade of dark.

10 years ago Power Station started in Melbourne, Australia as a weekly Saturday club night that turned into a label releasing music from the residents and friends of the party. Since the pandemic, we have been quietly re-constructing the plant due to the heavy impact of the effects of covid but are ecstatic to announce we are ready to fire up all the cylinders in the station again, this time with clean renewable fusion energy and new music.

To re-boot, we invite Kris Baha back to the station with a dance floor summer ready EP, “Breathe” which almost feels like the next progression after his last solo EP on the label all those years back in 2016 with ‘Mind Your Head’. ‘Breathe’ is a hazy reimagining of the mid 90’s/ early 2000’s y2k dance era while all still retaining Kris’s signature muscle baselines, textural ear candy, laced in euphoric synth lines. Channeling the era, in the lens of now’ using techno kicks, prog trance / 90’s synth lines and EBM influenced bass and sequences, for any fans of 90’s PVC trench coats and speed shades.

‘Mescalin Dreams’ Anyone that has followed the white rabbit knows of mirrored realities so Kris takes a Techno approach to prog trance while still retaining his classic EBM influenced bass line. “Mescalin, the only way to fly”

‘Breathe’, the name sake EP is about taking a moment to actually breathe, deep, into yourself especially in this climate. Hi pitched vocal samples run through out the track that symbolise the madness of the inner dialogue being juxtaposed on to the mantra, 'Breathe, Breathe, Breathe with me" - all fuelled by the hyper bombardment of social media, grabbing, holding your attention....you just need a moment to breathe to find your self.

This unearthed excavation is led by Jack Reardon - a well versed songwriter in previous project incarnations - now presenting his latest output under Leaches - an experimental electronic project featuring Alex Hollingsworth as live session member and co-producer. We could not be more excited to welcome the project to Power Station with the first self titled ep Leaches [PS019].

Just as the track titles suggest of prehistoric times, ‘Pangaea’ starts the EP with fractured kicks, swirling cut up voices chaotically unearthed, reassembled, and adapting to a new sonic climate. It’s a reconstruction of something ancient, revealing unexpected proximity to the present.

On ‘Mammoth’, Leaches fuses the chaos of micro organic vocal chops with industrial precision. Half-time rhythms and distorted kicks drive a churning, IDM-inflected landscape that feels both primal and machine-born — a resurrection of lost forms in motion.
 Lastly ‘Icarus’ closes the EP with an extended trance state intro. A singular pad rises, evolves, slowly building, reaching for the skies and just while soaring through the upper layer of the sonic atmosphere, resistance hits and you start hurtling to earth, grounding oneself back to Mother Nature in a fitting mythos metaphor of the risks of flying too close to the sun.

Leaches situates itself between post-industrial intensity and experimental introspection — a debut that bridges prehistoric imagination with contemporary electronic experimentation.

You may have heard of this nightrider in the electro sphere on labels such as Central Processing Unit / Zone/ Boys Noise Records or just casually collaborating with veteran The Hacker on his own imprint International Chrome. Having known Jensen for some time now it was more then appropriate to have him join us in the steam room and turn some gears. The result? 5 dance ready pieces from the future, delivered to us in the past and ready for you now. This is PS006 - Jensen Interceptor ’s Delayed Response

Gear 1, Route E - Headlights, check….tailgates, check…engine oil….CHECK. Some serious low slung BPM machine funk with a few twists and turns. Gear 2, Delayed Response feat Kirin J Callinan on Guitar/ Freak out duties - Jensen ramps it up a notch with wild guitar lines from Kirin soar through the motorik groove and hey, Delayed Response might be exactly the reaction we expect.

On the B side we have Emulator, taken right from the era of the E-MU SP machine. The heart ripped right out, implanted and transformed into a sweat induced body music work out. Gear 4, Tunnel Chase takes us in to some Front 242 / Tyranny For you mutated breaks territory. Mechanical rhythms push and thrust alongside the main sequence all but guided by a vocal pad of whom? The voice of your mother through distant memory? And finale’ Saudade - a dark wave / electro piece highlighting the origins/ inspirations of his mission. Jensen might be trying to tell us something about the future.

We are proud to present his fragile story & namesake ep / single title ‘EINSAM’ which, In our opinion, is a romantic-wave masterpiece. Flip to the B side, the beginning of EVA’s loveless story actually starts here with ‘The Gitter’ Gearing to machine funk territory and a naive outlook on what could be in-store for him. Finally P808 Takes us into the (sub) consciousness of his mind, just as the 808 in the name suggest, toms pulsate like his brain scanning neurons over and over, searching for the answer, ‘Who will …who will love me?’

Whilst the world is on pause, we thought it be a good idea to showcase some works that have been moving us months before the lockdown kicked in. Sophie Du Palais - Trance The Vogue

@Krisbaha returns to his imprint since ‘Mind Your Head’ in 2016 with 4 mutant industrial cuts ready for a dance floor of 1. 
‘Behave’ begins with a hypnotic sequence guiding the listener through the piece as sonic sirens screech from the cavernous dystopian wastelands of 2020.  

‘Starts to Fall’, which was finished in January before the epidemic, is a soundtrack of what was to come. A could be dance floor anthem now lost to the ‘could of been’s’ of time. Baha’s signature mechanical grooves start the track off with KB’s androgynous autotune vocal singing ‘Starts To Fall’, punching into a metallic punk wave inspired bassline setting the tone before submerging into the anthemic leads, a call to a brighter future. 

On the B side, ‘Struck’ is the brighter track of the release. High pitched melodic stabs shimmer above the corroded lowlands as 90’s industrial inspired drum grooves inject themselves into the already mutating bass line. Lastly, ‘Isolation’ is a slower BPM EBM cut evidently bleak and cold as forced Isolation and its negative side effects take their toll. The future is...
