Introducing - Catartsis - Ainsi Vient Le Doute [ SousTraitance ]

Somewhere between memory sediment and subconscious drift, “Les matières errantes” marks the second solo expedition of the Sous Traitance timeline, this time led by Catarsis (aka Mathieu Bonnafous).

This new EP from the Parisian producer gathers four elusive productions, each one forged in a different temporal layer across a period of seven years. Oscillating between states, they reveal a raw urge to blur genre borders, where bass-heavy architectures bend into murky techno spirals, breakbeat fragments dissolve into dubstep low-frequency voids, and drum & bass pulses flirt with collapse. There’s no linear path here, only shifting zones and unstable rhythms, moving like tectonic plates beneath the surface of club logic.

A disjointed archive, a driftwork of forms—"Les matières errantes” doesn’t narrate a story so much as it exposes its own erosion. It’s a confrontation of industrial and natural environments for an unique, organic sound, making Catartsis a key figure in the renewal of the French Techno scene.

HL Premiere : Catartsis - Ainsi Vient Le Doute [SousTraitance]

We at Syrinx Music are glad to welcome back Feather Model with their second EP, following on the release of Grid Scanning on our label in 2023. The duo, composed of Peine Rose and Evan Monk, used the time that lapsed since their debut EP to carefully refine their style: the foundations of Feather Model’s sounds are still very much present, but they seem even more personal now.

 These four tracks remain grounded in organic sounds, with acoustic instruments (piano, guitar, bass) melted into minimalist drums influenced by hip hop beats, jazz, bass music and more. However, this new offering from these longtime Syrinx Music associates goes further, making great use of deeply infused melancholy on all tracks, playing with the contrast between light & darkness. Troubled atmospheres and a finely designed sense of tension are at the core of these cuts, before title track “Last Wagon Ceremony” seems to offer release as a conclusion. This new EP feels not only as a follow-up to Grid Scanning, but also as a step forward; it is also right in line with Syrinx Music’s ethos, as always located at the crossroads between the lab & the club.

Still landing after one of the most magical weeks of my life. A dream I’ve been holding for years came true - I played my first set at Boom Festival. On the opening day, I had the privilege to play a set after my dear brother Deacon at Funky Beach. It was an honor to share some of my unreleased music, music from our label @tmrwsmdy and also from some producers I am inspired by.

A whole-hearted thank you all the crew at Boom for creating the most incredible container for transformation, thank you to Golan for the opportunity and trust, and thank you to every soul who danced into the sunset, tuned in and reminded me why I spend so much time doing this.

Seeing a crew of smiling friends from all over the world dancing made the moment so much sweeter. To me this music, this ritual - it’s transformational and healing. Endless gratitude to this path, the music and this community. Thank you Boom!
