Making his Time Is Now debut, Killjoy brings a kaleidoscopic EP jam-packed with UK flavours, from 4x4 garage to UK Funky and tribal house.

By no means a newcomer to the scene, Killjoy has long been perfecting his craft. Now residing in Sydney, he was instrumental in the rise of Nottingham’s Tumble Audio: a musical heritage easy to detect in his current productions. Building on the stylistic tropes of bassline, UK Funky and Grime, Killjoy’s sound is truly distinct, proven by support received from the likes of Scratcha DVA, Riz La Teef, Skream and Zomby.

For proof, look no further than TINWHITE016 which showcases Killjoy’s myriad artistic identity, beginning with ‘Roof It (4x4 Mix)’. Intervals of warmth and cool compete with each other - each one just as danceable as the other - later seeing a flip from TIN family member Soul Mass Transit System who captures the track’s old school essence and enhances it with korg organ stabs that dance above. A marching triplet rhythm lends ‘E’s Got Me’ its driving propulsion: with plenty of swing and and weighty percussion, this one evokes the music of Tribal Brothers or Bakongo. Talking of UK Funky, ‘Bourbon’ sees Killjoy put his spin on the genre with a broken rhythm that comes at no cost to the swing created by deep lower-end stabs that nod to bassline. These are then taken and drawn out on its VIP flip, occupying the intersection between Grime and UK Funky. This one begs to be played on a system.

Introducing Twelvez, a two track, 12 inch series from the ec2a camp. A subtle nod to the classic, club ready twelve. Expect one track per side, cut at 45rpm for extra emphasis and bass weight.

First up are two rising producer in UK Garage, Daffy & Dominus, combining for 'Warlord' - A Dubstep number featuring London City Warlord and OG Roll Deep general, Riko Dan. Classic 140 arrangement and sub-lows setting the pace for the one of the most recognisable grime flows over the past two decades. On the flip comes a speed garage remix by the ever illusive Yorkshire outfit Soul Mass Transit System.

Seven talented producers pull out all the stops on our fourth All Stars compilation, with most venturing into unknown territory to showcase a different shade of their sonic palette. Believe us, this one’s got something for everyone. 
 
Kicking things off are TIN mainstays Soul Mass Transit System who team up with LA producer Introspekt on a super slick, super sexy garage house track, peppered with irresistible vocal licks and bubbly organ melody. Next up it’s up-and-comer Yemi who, following his label debut - a soulful UKG 6-tracker - explores his high-speed inclinations with a hefty jungle cut made cinematic by choral singers. The third track may sound familiar to some - SMTS’ UKG reimagined by Bakey as skippy breakbeat, with funk-inspired brass stabs injecting playfulness and dynamism into an already-classic tune. 
 
Daffy is up next with a raucous breaks number undergirded by the growl of a warped reese bass before Groovy D strips things back with some tuneful UKG, complete with vocal licks and a piano melody. Finally, it’s up to Japanese jack of all trades Stones Taro to close proceedings. ‘Rise Up’ is an assertive electro-inspired track with an acid melody and cosmic soundscape.

The first single, lostfound, from leland, the forthcoming debut LP by Francis Harris is available now on limited edition vinyl from NYC label Scissor and Thread. leland is a highly personal work for Harris who composed the album as a requiem for his father, for whom it is titled. This first peek at the project features the album version of lostfound, a contemplative, atmospheric pop song cast in a deep house framework. Norwegian singer Gry turns in an outstanding vocal performance that cuts straight to the emotional core of the material while subtle improvisational trumpet accents by Greg Paulus of No Regular Play propel the narrative.
