He stepped out of glory,
And put on the lowly,
And life’s very Author
A creature became.
Despised and forsaken,
Afflicted with sorrow,
From infinite splendor,
To the likeness of shame.

He chose to be humbled,
He chose limitation,
He chose to be finite,
He chose to be man.
God’s unfathomed purpose
Found substance in Jesus!
A two-natured being —
The unique God-Man.

His own shell was broken
Releasing His glory,
This life-impartation
Produced many grains.
The Firstborn rejoices
With His many brothers —
An incorporation, divine and human.

Our lovely Forerunner;
His shame was our vict’ry,

Maybe I’m a madman making marks upon your door 
Wandering while women sing of worthy men of war
Could I be a king without his country anymore?
I hardly know the boy I knew before

A medium maligned had met a mortal malady
The prophet pulled from rest professed rebellion’s penalty
With kingdom torn, my king was scorned by his insanity
Ultimately ending in a tragedy

Selfishness and envy left him orphaned and alone 
His seething eyes would force me to a place I’d never known
On horns of a dilemma now I fight against my own
Tragedy can cut right to the bone

Valiantly the vanguard vanished in it's vanity
Blatantly believing a betrayer I could be
Seemingly a snare is set, so in Your sovereignty 
Rescue me from falling into a tragedy

Princes passed us by until the battle lines were drawn
Endlessly objecting to my will to carry on
Though you’re like an angel, you must leave at break of dawn
With angel's wings by morning I was gone

Cries of chaos came from men who crossed calamity
Fire burned, the weeping yearned in tears of agony
Battling the brazen bandits bare brutality
Brought us salvation from a tragedy
Deep in my dilemma was a God who intercedes 
Catching me from falling into a tragedy
