Another track from my upcoming album, "Sojourner".

"How Far" tells the story of Job, a man afflicted, but who is ever faithful.  In his talks with God during his tribulation, he continually asks how far this test is going to go on for, and even bargains with the Almighty in order to satisfy the test. 

This song talks about the type, tone and timbre of someone who keeps getting blow after blow in their lives and is representative of those conversations between the afflicted faithful and the divine power that holds those answers.

"I Wish I'd Known" tells the story of a man facing a serious health crisis who realizes his time is running out. Burdened by regrets, he decides to confront at least one of them by opening up to his wife about the things left unsaid. As he shares his thoughts, their conversation deepens, and he comes to understand just how much he truly loves her.

From the upcoming album Sojourner, “When No One Answered” tells the story of a man in the final moments of his life. Instead of encountering what he had been taught to expect, he finds something entirely different. He sees people everywhere, but nothing divine appears. In that moment, he realizes that God is not present in the form shaped by the modern evangelical church. He isn’t afraid—he’s fascinated by what he’s witnessing—but he also understands that he must accept a difficult truth: he doesn’t know everything, and neither do the people who claimed they did.

When No One Answered

“Smile Thru the Fog” reflects the experience many families face today with relatives who have become deeply entrenched in misinformation. Regardless of how much credible evidence you present, they dismiss it and insist they are “just telling you the truth,” often with an unwavering smile. The song was inspired by a family member of mine who is firmly committed to QAnon beliefs and once told me that my having worked at Microsoft made me a demon, that Bill Gates is a child molester, and that Donald Trump is a divinely guided figure I should be grateful for—along with a host of other unfounded claims.

Marc is a journeyman of a musician.  As a professional bassist, arranger, engineer and producer he has produced and engineered over 80 albums and played on hundreds of sessions from Los Angeles to Boston and all points in between. He is also a songwriter, having written music for artists big and small.  He has been married to Debi since 1985, and has 2 children- Ian and Sarah along with 2 granddaughters.  Marc lives and works out of his home studio near Seattle, Washington.
