Fully fledged DJ and producer Jack the Ripper returns to underground imprint Cre8dnb following his ‘White Chapel’ EP, which solidified his place within a competitive industry. Having already dropped records on the likes of Shiftin Beatz, G4N, Train Recordings, DS2B, Audio Overload, Sound Solution Digital, Wobble Infection and many more influential labels, his first offering on Cre8dnb made a seismic impact.

And Cre8dnb is the perfect platform for his creations; owned by pivotal jump-up head DJ Blackley, it’s made its mark within the current drum & bass climate. As well as a label, the events and internet radio brand has its reaches stretched to the scene’s every corner and this can be seen through its widespread fan base. It was to be expected that an artist like Jack the Ripper would be brought into its ranks, as his unbridled skill and high-octane music fit perfectly against the label’s back catalogue. His forthcoming EP, featuring some of his most longstanding friends, also follows this same high-reaching ethos as the rest of his own discography. 

On first listen, it’s easy to see how Jack the Ripper has been supported by producers such as Decimal Bass and Tyke. First up, his collaboration with Solix ‘Yuh’ pummels forward with smashing drums and a bassline which throbs amongst its mixdown. Then Jack the Ripper and Blackmask crash forward with ‘The Monster’, a track which nods to its name with every breakdown. ‘Get Your Own Groove’ featuring Woodz is just as aggressive, alongside its impressive hooks. Then Jack the Ripper and Alphaze joins forces on ‘Tribe’, with its relentless kicks and snares, coming at you fast and hard with every sixteen bar. Finally, Jack the Ripper and L-SP come together for ‘Warfare’, with eerily distorted sonics and blasts of heavy bass. Each trembling sub brings the track into play and you’re left to duck between its gyrating mechanics. As a selection of records, ‘Jack the Ripper and Friends’ is just as damaging as any other offering from the artist and the producers he brought on board live up to his standards. This EP is sure to be a staple within Cre8dnb’s release schedule
