When you think of the 90s there are tracks and artists that spring immediately to mind. Seminal dance icons of those times D:Ream, are the dance collective who sat for a while very comfortably on top of the UK charts with their 1994 ‘Things Can Only Get Better’. What followed were eight more chart successes and a trio of albums, to say they were a big deal really is an understatement.

Original band members Al Mackenzie and Peter Cunnah are soon to release a full- length album entitled ‘Open Hearts Open Minds’ in October. The LP is jam packed full of joyous and uplifting, soulful pop house classics in the making.

‘I Used To Believe In Love’ is the third single to be released from the album. It’s a soulful house cut that pays homage to the 90s classic, smooth US garage sound that Frankie Knuckles and Morales pioneered, at the same time sounding so fresh for today.
Al & Pete have brought on board Black Science Orchestra legend Ashley Beedle, and his North Street West production squad, consisting of keyboard impresario and production wizard Darren Morris, and the golden eared A&R that is Jo Wallace. These guys seriously beef up the bass and amplify the beats, the result being three muscular mixes of smooth and soulful house with that signature North Street West stamp. D:Ream’s Al Mackenzie, dons his Retroforward remix snap-back, going deeper and tracky to deliver a nine-minute, deep house chugger that rounds off this very respectable remix package.
