The Black First Land First movement led by Andile Mgxitama stormed the Public Protector’s office yesterday demanding that Advocate Thuli Madonsela investigate the theft of R26 billion rand from the Reserve Bank during the apartheid-era. There was huge evidence of economic crimes by apartheid government and Hennie Van Vuuren’s 2006 report revealed how corruption in apartheid was deeply entrenched that it would ‘inevitably serve to corrupt the new order’ and asks why there have been no prosecutions.
