The piano plays a prominent part throughout Rivers & Forests, the new work of evocative instrumentals by Drew Five - his first ever solo long-player and a counterpoint to his alt/art rock output. The themes of flowing rivers and deep waters, gigantic trees and expansive forests, dominate. In amongst these landscapes, the human constructs of language and time also resonate, illustrating in these captured fragments, an aching beauty and longing. This album takes you on a journey, along the river that Drew calls home, along many other rivers, to the Boreal Forest at nightime, to the constellations which silently speak of other possible worlds. The cinematic scope of this work would not be out of place in a dozen different movies of the imagination or perhaps a lucid dream. Listen deeply. Enjoy forever.

River Flowing

Drew Five is a musician, composer, producer, and one half of electro-punk duo Feral Five. His work has appeared on film, documentary and radio. He has performed with award-winning producer Jan Bang (ECM),  Grammy Award-winning engineer Simon Goff and Mercury-nominated Eska at Berlin Funkhaus. As one half of Feral Five he has worked with new materials designer Francis Bitonti and Misled Convoy (Pitch Black - NZ synth pioneers) and supported Test Dept. Drew has also written and performed with Feral Five new music for Martyn Ware (BEF/Heaven 17) at the Picasso-insired 'Everything You Can Imagine Is Real' event at the National Portrait Gallery, London. His Rijeka Aiport Music Installation project was awarded a prize by the Croatian Ministry of Culture. His solo work is often introspective, with a focus on lush soundscapes.

I write and sometimes produce others. I curate the songwriter series, "3x25", currently dormant. Playing regularly around the NYC area.
