Scripture teaches us to forgive.  Colossisans 3:13, specifically, calls us to forgive as YHWH forgave us.  But how do we forgive when the offence causes so much pain and distress?  A few years back, I had to do some serious study on this subject.  (I'll write a blog about it soon.)  I learned that if I chose to withhold forgiveness, it was like drinking poison and expecting the other person to suffer.  Forgiveness was to free me.  Because the one being held in bondage was actually me because I was refusing to forgive.  The more I moved into forgiveness, the more freedom and joy I was able to experience.
