On 04.03.21 at 2000cet @oddyxey premiered the second installment of Pavillion, a series of audio compositions that are spatially placed within a 60 minute field recording of a specific location or sonic landscape.

Pavillion (47.4940444, 11.1660155) captures the sound of music-esque hills on the border of Germany and Austria where I spent 5 days during summer 2020 in preparation of the group exhibition Wolpertinger at Heden Gallery Den Haag.

»sleepstep« is the first collaboration between raster-noton and dasha rush. the record‘s subtitle »sonar poems for my sleepless friends« describes its underlying concept – »sleepstep« is a trip through electronically alienated microcompositions and sound collages that, interwoven with text passages, aim at creating a dream-like atmosphere.

the stations of this journey are striving for oblivion of time, an immersion, a drifting in universal states – death, life, birth, grief, desire. the titles often appear to be raw sketches, fugitive, surreal short stories that rather want to break open than execute.

the musical arrangement, in this context, can be described as rather subtle and fragile. though electronically manipulated, no production technique is pushing itself to the fore. and though clichés are not dreaded, »sleepstep«, as a result, stays away from being cliché. the sonar poems for her sleepless friends are feminine, subtle and personal reports. a musical dream journey in the form of a classical concept record – an album that also stands in the tradition of ambient music.

dasha rush is already known as a techno dj and producer. here on »sleepstep«, she celebrates her alter ego. the cd version comes with a 32-pages booklet that also shows her photographic interest and includes the aforementioned poems written by her. furthermore there is 2 x 12" vinyl version.

Doug Shipton has been archiving forgotten music history from the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties for the past 10 years: Anatolian rock, musique concrète, horror-movie soundtracks from the former Czechoslovakia, prog rock from Hungary, library music from Italy, and also psychedelic jazz, folk and funk from Persia. On the side, the music nerd is also a fantastic DJ who serves up all kinds of obscurities from all over the globe on the turntables.

Carrell is the DJ persona of Sebastian Reier - Hamburg based vinyl archaeologist, radio host (ByteFM, Groovie Shizzl), record dealer (Groove City Recordstore), music programmer (Überjazz Festival/New Hamburg), compiler, unabashed turkoholic and self proclaimed ''Outernational Deejay Gigolo''.

A musical oddball-extraordinaire, he keeps finding insane chOOnage in records from all over the globe. His love for the Outernational can be defined by the way he picked his records for this exclusive guest mix, covering an array of under-appreciated gems within a myriad of wide ranging genres - he takes us on a musical journey through many countries, all the way from Wonky Pakistani OST’s to Saz Jams from Turkey through to heavy Romanian Future Nuggets, Thai Psychedelics, Indonesian Teen-Pop, Bombay Synth-Funk, Catalonian Fusion and everything else in between.

What is in the Museum Of No Art? Not paintings, but visions. Not sculptures, but empty spaces full of potential. It is within this inverted gallery that Mona Steinwidder traces fabulous forms with voice, sampler, synthesizer, clarinet and effects. Under the moniker Museum Of No Art, she has created an album that floats in a hazy lacuna between realities, rooted in propulsive and deep bass resonance, but also footloose, playfully deconstructing language and mixing in layers of echoing synthetic and organic tones. The fascinating result of these unfettered experiments resonate as an imaginary cadavre-exquis played by DJ Screw, Arthur Russell, Hiroshi Yoshimura, MJ Lallo, Poppy Nogood, and Laurie Anderson.

With a background in fine art and music, over the years Steinwidder has created and released music under the pseudonym Mohna, as part of the experimental pop band Me Succeeds, and collaborates with composer Alexander Schubert and electronic dance music producer Christian Löffler. Recently, shifting her focus more on improvisation and experimental music, she moved to Vienna for six months to concentrate on experimenting with synthesizers, samplers and voice. Her intention was to build a “playground” that would leave space for improvisation and allow for a meditative and intuitive process. This solo exploration allowed her to return home with a new way to play.

“I like this idea of an open and light structure that can grow and transform and leaves space in all directions. Something without a clear beginning and ending. A rough, short note. Today I’m in the mood to sing, but tomorrow I might be in the mood to just float on an ocean of synths or to play a solo on my clarinet. I am a never-ending process and I am many. The Museum Of No Art album is a collection of days and moods, images and circumstances I experienced and immediately recorded in the last year.”
