Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Egypt’s Raxon makes his Truesoul debut with a searing four-tracker.

The talented DJ/producer has been a marked man on Adam Beyer’s musical radar ever since his stunning remix of Noir & Olivier Giacamotto’s ‘Reste’ landed during the summer of 2016. His productions have elsewhere found a home on Diynamic, Noir, Tronic and more recently Ellum, reinforcing his ability to craft powerful techno that still retains an emotive edge. 

His maiden outing for Truesoul is masterful. ‘Fobidden Quest’ is seven minute of low-end muscular bass that’s heavy on peak-time rush. ‘Orix’ is continues in this vein and is a groove-ridden bass-heavy gem. ‘Flight Call’ demonstrates his musical breadth, providing an interlude from the dancefloor with an immersive ambient work. The EP is rounded out with ‘Heliopolis’, the EP’s title track named after Raxon’s hometown. It’s a stirring composition driven by uplifting pads, tension-building bassline melodies and a laser-kissed build up. 

Support for this EP already comes in strong, including Maceo Plex, Solomun, Nicole Moudaber, Carl Cox, B.Traits, Tale of Us, John Digweed, Adriatique and of course Adam Beyer.

WhoMadeWho, the genre-bending trio based out of Copenhagen are at it again. With their sixth album just announced called, ‘Through The Walls’, and the lead single ‘Dynasty’ now available to stream, one should expect to hear a lot more from this dynamic band in the coming months. To complement Dynasty’s release, remixing duties have been extended to luminaries such as Denis Horvat, Roosevelt and our standout pick of the pack, Jimi Jules.

In December 2017 Paulo Foltz released his first album, 'Pineal Connection', with a futuristic vision and addressing topics such as pineal gland, flow state and metaphysics. The album reached the ears of Richie Hawtin, Pan-Pot, Raxon, Clint Stewart, Blancah, and other great artists, projecting Foltz as the new Brazilian exponent in the world’s techno scene.

Such repercussion qualified him for a second album: 'Pineal Connection Remixes', having the original tracks reinterpretated by established artists, varying between different strands of Techno, Minimal, Breakbeat and Electronic. Such diversity of genres present in this work highlight even more the scope of the original tracks.

The kick-off of the remix album is given by Paulo Foltz himself with his rework of 'Mental Scanning', originally an intro that is now reborn with a steady and dance floor oriented groove, but which strongly maintains its intergalactic timbre. Then, the Binaryh duo brilliantly combines lush layers of melodies with a vibrant rolling bass in their version of 'Pulsar', followed by our queen Blancah with her magnificent Remix of 'Dimensional', leading us on an ethereal journey accompanied by a beautiful sound design!

Chris Hirose applies the original melody of 'Time' to an absolutely seductive groove, coupled with powerful effects of breathtaking synths and breaks. Next, the berliner Clint Stewart adds drum elements and a massive bass line to 'Teleportation', in an even more hypnotic version!

In 'Peace', Ellie Ka give us with her own ethereal vocals, adding even more feeling to this exciting journey through soft pianos and an engaging bass line. Gustavo Bravetti applies his technological minimalism to the original title track, 'Pineal Connection', affectionately reworked with several granular elements, bringing adrenaline and euphoria to this very innovative interpretation. The Mumbaata duo puts all their luggage and musical vision into 'Hologram', and the result is a hitech and analog breakbeat, just great!

Finishing the album, we raise the bpms of the tracks, with the versions of Stefano TT for 'Soul Rest', featuring a hypnotic techno with strong acid influences and metallic atmospheres, followed by Tarter, who closes this work with brilliance by mixing the original textures of 'Immersive' with a crude groove, which works really well within the created landscape.
