Its been a whirlwind year so far for new SCI+TEC signing Fabio Florido. As one of the new wave of M_nus artists, he was chosen by Richie Hawtin to spin at some of the recent PLAYdifferently Mixer launch parties, including May’s live Boiler Room. Since then he’s squeezed in a quickfire tour of South America, completed an upcoming Ep for Pig&Dan’s ELEVATE imprint and put the finishing touches to his much anticipated SCI+TEC debut.

Fabio opens the release with Umeshu Drunkard, a heady concoction of lashing cymbles, twitching snare and marching bass. All topped with a dizzying melodic garnish. Intoxicating stuff from the Italian.

Title track Ascendent hits hard with its thumping kickdrum, sturdy groove and bubbling acid line. A mean, motoring track and, together with its predecessor, one that furthers Fabio’s rise to the top.

Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint continues a strong start to the year by showcasing the first installment of it’s ‘Re:Imagined’ series. These Various Artists EP showcases will take a look back over the label’s catalog, presenting new interpretations from some of the freshest talent in the underground. In what promises to be a highlight in the Belgian imprints release schedule, the first installment finds Nopi, Hot TuneiK, Retza and Gimerique re-interpreting tracks from Paula OS, Paul Angelo & Don Argento, Paul Deep and Lerr respectively.

Having first appeared in March of 2019, Romanenko Vladislav aka Nopi has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the organic house underground. In just nine short months the Ukrainian artist has found a home on Akbal Music, When We Dip / XYZ, Sag & Tre and Seven Villas. His fresh take on deep and dreamy house has propelled him to one of the genre’s top up and comers. Now making his much-anticipated Sound Avenue debut he delivers an inspired take on ‘Pearl’ by Paula OS. Always a creative remixer, the Ukrainian artist expands on the unique qualities of the original with an eight-minute free form sonic spectacle. Full, warm and undeniably organic; it’s bulbous low end, airy vocals and exotic percussion provide the framework for moments of impassioned energy. Unpredictability and a wealth of blissful concepts make this a more than worthy complement to the original.

This uplifting, happy-go-lucky body of work with a distinct 80s retro vibes features Jeremy's trademark thumping energy and suspense that we know and love.

After the success of Hiato Music's debut, with an EP signed by Binaryh, now it is BLANCAh's turn to leave her unmistakable mark consolidating the musical aesthetics of the label, which belongs to both artists. If Binaryh is the pulsating and energetic body of the label, with songs that look like a locomotive full of pressure and groove, BLANCAh is the sensitive and elegant body, mixing power and poetry in her compositions. So is Signs Of Bliss, her new EP that has two original tracks.

"Although we lived such troubled year as 2020, full of fears, uncertainties and concerns, I tried to face adversity with hope, looking for signs of happiness in small daily gestures. Hence these songs were born as my particular manifestations of hope in a better year. " Explains BLANCAh.

Serenity is the opening song and starts with a crystalline piano - a constant in the artist's compositions - that continues to solo from the beginning to the end of the song. The composition grows with the entry of percussive drums that bring drama and reinforce the powerful groove of the bass lines. It is in fact a strong song, whose serenity is reflected in the correct choice of timbres, in the way the instruments in the Break are interspersed, in the way the melody surrounds us, creating a "sound space" capable of leading us to serene places within ourselves.

Signs Of Bliss, the song that gives the ep its name, is strong and progressive. It presents an immersive and dynamic melody that sounds during practically the entire track. The melodic bed is on account of the aerial Pads that alternate our attention, time turned to the main melody, time to the background and it is exactly this game that makes the music interesting and well built.

BLANCAh once again gives us a mature work and proves what has been said about her music since she appeared on the underground scene in 2014. She is in fact an artist who stands out for her originality, creativity, and sensitivity.

Sings Of Bliss is an ep full of personality, it fits very well both on the set of artists who value authenticity in their selections and on the playlist of listeners with refined taste

From a home on the Madeira archipelago, Li-Polymer been a regular on the underground dance industry's imprints for over a decade through music signed to the likes of Balkan Connection, Lowbit and Juicebox Music. A 2014 debut for Particles saw a remix of Matt Rowan followed by a series of original releases on the label's seasonal compilation series before May 2017's "Crystal Serenity" marked a notable highlight. Returning with another twin-track original offering, "Jacaranda" is a rich flowing piece that blossoms through its delicate melodic phrasing that drifts in sultry fashion while a sumptuous delayed motif and uptempo arp add counterpoint joy. A deep kick and light percussive vibe trip across the 9-minute piece with ease in a joyous offering. At over 10-minutes, "All Together We Are More" is redolent in opulent soundscapes that hold sway over muted kick and hi-hat pattern. Evolving gently through subtle melodic variation, textured pads drift across the track as a swathe of phrases entwine before a delayed motif makes its play in the third movement. The result is a compelling piece from the Portuguese artist.

Fresh from remixes of their outstanding "Stoyote" EP on Proton Music, the relatively new musical partnership of LADS & Traumhouse find themselves making their Particles debut. Regulars on such esteemed labels as Rebellion der Tarumer, Nie Wieder Schlafen and Guy J's Lost & Found, the LADS partnership has grown in stature over the past 18 months. Regulars on Proton Music with an array of original music, "Stoyote" was another landmark moment in 2020 which included a collaboration from Traumhouse. Joining forces with the German artist who has featured on the likes of Magician On Duty, A Must Have and Manual Music, the LADS & Traumhouse reworking of "Jacaranda" is a sumptuous offering that revels in low-slung groove and filtered percussive roll. Characterised by a dark and gritty groove with its roots in the original, intelligent use of remix components from the Li-Polymer track blend seamlessly with a swathe of original material from the production trio. The result is a stunning remix that hits its stride in the second half with detuned synth motifs and cascading sonic tapestry.

Another Proton Music regular, Hot TuneiK has created a stir with a new organic sound that witnessed the birth of his "Heightened Senses" EP in February 2020. With Vol. 2 on the horizon in 2021, the Mexican's unique sound has been a favourite on a growing number of labels that include the likes of Balkan Connection, 3rd Avenue and Visceral. Finding an array of releases on Particles that include 2017's "Erase & Rewind" and 2018's "Tulum", Hot TuneiK now returns to the label for the first time since an August 2020 remix of Vidno. Reworking "Jacaranda", the melodic subtlety of the original is retained while a purposeful rhythmic backdrop provides a unique new direction through tape delays and percussive edge. Hitting its stride with an array of new production material that includes a meandering lead synth line and pulsating bassline in the second half, Hot TuneiK showcases talent in abundance.

As Li-Polymer's craftsmanship comes to the fore once more, "Jacaranda" blossoms alongside remixes from LADS, Traumhouse and Hot TuneiK.

The latest release from Clubsonica Records finds D.J. MacIntyre returning for a new single alongside Juan Ibanez who makes his label debut. American artist D.J. MacIntyre made his first appearance on the Colombian imprint in May of 2020 with the chart topping 'Conquistador'. As one of Beatport's perennial best-selling artists, the Santa Barbara resident continues to explore progressive music and its related derivatives through releases via Freegrant Music, Droid9 and his own SLC-6 imprint. Hailing from Argentina, Juan Ibanez has been touted as one of his country's rising talents since first appearing in 2019. Support from world class DJ Hernan Cattaneo, along with releases for Antrim's Or Two Strangers have etched Juan's place amongst progressive music's top up and comers. Now continuing their creative partnership, D.J. MacIntyre and Juan Ibanez land on Clubsonica with 'Haumea', alongside remixes from Fabri Lopez and Andre Moret.

Bound by a love for rhythm and groove, the cross-continental duo have crafted one of their most engaging creations to date in 'Haumea'. Pulsating beats, clattering drums and astral sonics begin the seven-minute journey. Senses heighten as striking chord stabs and cosmic arps unite across a swirling, tension filled backdrop. Anticipatory and dramatic, the main break continues to elevate mood with phasing noise, before a powerful drum roll sparks a thumping drop and electric finale.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'Haumea' is Fabri Lopez. With two remixes over the last two years, the Argentinean artist has found a comfortable home on the Colombian imprint. With continued support from progressive music's key tastemakers, Fabri is coming off his best and most prolific year to date. Continuing that momentum as the new year begins, Fabri makes a welcome return to Clubsonica with a powerful remix of 'Haumea'. Backed by a full, driving groove, the Villa Mercedes resident has carved out a strong foundation, complemented with fluid pulses and percussive drive. Electric in design and hypnotic in scope, its glassy arps and shimmering overlays slowly descend over the framework, eventually carrying the piece into an emotive break. As the groove strips down, fragmented melodies and impassioned chord changes rise, opening up for moments of reflective warmth, before a gentle rush shifts energy into a heavenly finale.

The final interpretations of 'Haumea' are provided by Andre Moret who returns to the label for his second appearance. Amidst much praise, the Brazilian's Clubsonica debut 'Recover' landed in January of 2020, setting the course for a breakout year. Droid9, Freegrant Music and Mango Alley also played host to Andre's progressive sounds, while Hernan Cattaneo continued with his steadfast support. Now returning to Clubsonica for his first remix, Andre delivers two stunning renditions of 'Haumea'. Energetic and groovy in equal measure, Andre's main mix perfectly characterizes his clean, buoyant production style. A spacious foundation provides an immense sense of space, as lively percussion and playful electronics carry a wonderful dancefloor sensibility. Fragmented vocals and a shimmering arp further the narrative as the first act evolves, ultimately leading to dramatic break and thrilling drop. Meanwhile, Andre's 'Night' Mix stays to true to the main themes from his main mix, while opting for a fuller groove and greater peak time appeal. Building beautifully, kaleidoscopic arps and a wave of sizzling effects unite for a dynamic moment during the break, perfectly foreshadowing a striking final movement. Two stunning renditions from the fast-rising Brazilian artist, rounding out another must have offering from Clubsonica Records.

This is yet another winner from the talented producer. Warm moods, melodic progressions and that superb atmosphere built to this stunning journey. It’s as brilliant as always and we are thrilled to see him back on our PHW Elements division. 

We are equally happy to see another return on the label as Ireland based Silinder makes another stylish return. A lot is said already about his music over the years and this is just another beauty from him, we let it speak on its own. A bit more stripped down, packed with some great elements to spice this release with yet another winner. He always takes us on a journey and this surely is one from start to finish.
