Grief and loss is a part of life but sometimes it just gets so big and so intrusive and so lonely that you feel you cannot control anything, that you cannot trust your perception of self, that you can only easily experience hurt and pain. Being open and willing to find and experience new love and connection becomes something totally different, something I crave and fear. When you have been left all alone, sometimes you choose to isolate yourself for fear of feeling alone once again even while you are not by yourself. When you have been silenced and ignored with so many truths left untold and so many people gone, it can feel like death might be the only way to save yourself from all the pain, with songs such as “Suicide” and “walk on by” communicating these emotions. Feeling free is not something I know, even if there are people who love me on my side rooting for me, which I am grateful for. I need to find my soul and let it know it is safe to come out despite all of the pain, with “TOO YOUNG” and “Slow & Silent” being high tempo songs affirming that it is never too late to find yourself even amongst the chaos. Instead of choosing not to be here, to end it all with the goal of finding solace in finally reuniting with the people who have passed on, I choose to stay and express myself creatively as the orphan I was forced to become and hope I can find serenity in telling the many stories left behind, for the people I miss dreadfully and for the people who might need to hear: you are not alone, no matter how much you have lost, no matter how many pieces that you are forced to pick up and put together. If nobody else existed, you would still be you. And you would still be. That is more than enough.
