Born in 1936, guitarist, composer, arranger, bandleader, and producer Ebo Taylor has been a vital figure on the Ghanaian music scene for over six decades.
In the late '50s he was active in the influential highlife bands the Stargazers and the Broadway Dance Band, and in 1962 he took his own group, the Black Star Highlife Band,
to London, which led to collaborations with Fela Kuti and other African musicians in Britain at the time.

Returning to Ghana, he worked as a producer, crafting recordings for Pat Thomas, C.K. Mann, and others, 
as well as exploring his own projects, combining traditional Ghanaian material with Afro-beat, jazz, and funk rhythms to create his own recognizable sound in the '70s.
Taylor's work became popular internationally with hip-hop producers in the 21st century, which led to the release of Love and Death on Strut Records in 2010
his first internationally distributed album. Its success prompted Strut to issue the stellar retrospective Life Stories: Highlife & Afrobeat Classics 1973-1980, in the spring of 2011.

A year later, in 2012, a third Strut album, the deeply personal Appia Kwa Bridge, appeared, and showed that at 76, Taylor was still intensely creative and focused,
mixing traditional Fante songs and chants with children's rhymes and personal matters into his own sharp vision of highlife.

Getting Addicted to Dieslow (GATDS) is a collaborative mixtape by Michael Kelly and Jason Simpson, the two leading members of the Deadbeat Conglomerate. The project chronicles their adventures and exploits since they met in the second half of 2019.  Themes explored on the tape include mental health, drug abuse, toxic masculinity, the ills of the entertainment industry, social media culture as well as the daily struggle between God and the Devil within. The project features an evolved and more relaxed and playful variant of the group’s main producer Dieslow’s menacing and ambient infused sound. GATDS carries the spirit of the Ghanaian underground and hints at the greatness which is about to come with the release of the groups album Good Nights & Bad People Vol. 1.

Tumtum Brooni Ft. Black Stone

Michael Kwasi Marfo Tenkorang, better known by his stage name Mike Kwa6i, was born on the 6th of June 1993 and raised in Accra, Ghana. He has had what you can say is a “Dream Start” to his music production career, having produced for the Ghanaian music industry’s finest, after just 3 years of starting active production.

Mike Kwa6i has worked with the likes of Manifest, E.L, Jayso, Blackway, Gemini, Kojo Cue, Trebla, Dee Double, Dex Kwasi, etc.

EARLY LIFE

Mike Kwa6i’s interest in music grew from childhood when his dad bought him a whole lot of records including that of Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Ludacris, Bow Wow, Busta Rhymes and more when returning from work. He also watched his mum sing in the choir. He believes unconsciously his parents were teaching him music or letting it grow in him.

Mike Kwa6i always knew he would be making beats so he wasted no time when he got his first PC in 2011, experimenting here and there as he had nobody to teach him. Ironically his parents especially his dad didn’t like the idea because they thought he was making noise and wasting electricity. Within a year after getting his PC, he had already started making beats.


 
MUSIC CAREER

Mike Kwa6i’s first placement was in 2013 when he produced M.anifest’s “someway bi”.
Well, I was asked to send a couple of beats to M.anifest by Selasie , i sent one, he heard it and wanted to meet up with me, so we met at madina verbs during his 2012 “Rapper Of The Year” appreciation party. He asked to hear more so i sent another and that was the beat for someway bi 
Manifest’s “someway bi” ended up winning third place in the R&B/ Hiphop category of The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) 2014. It also got numerous nominations in Ghana and beyond.

From there, Mike Kwa6i did some production for Kojo Cue on his ”The Shining” Mixtape . Songs he produced on the mixtape included – Ewiase, Bantama Blues 1 & 2, Redrum, Airmail Interlude.
Mike Kwa6i Produced the intro (Dopest Rapper) for Gemini’s Mixtape, and the tape was named after that song.
Mike Kwa6i also Produced JaySo’s “The Truth”
Mike Kwa6i did some production on Mr Kweku Sintim-Misa (KSM)son Yaw Sintim-Misa (Blackway) Album, Radiant Child Reloaded – Iced Tea and Assassins Creed

INSPIRATION

Locally, Mike Kwa6i takes inspiration from Hammer, Jay So and Richie. Internationally, he takes inspiration from Old School producers like Just Blaze, J Dilla, Timberland, Kanye West, as well as New School Producers like Cardiak, Merto Booming, Lex Luger, 808 Mafia.
