Preserved broadcasts from those days are like historical artifacts frozen in time.
Hundreds of thousands of ears were listening.
At that time, long overlap mixes, and undetectable song changes, were amazing to listeners who never before heard a skilled DJ.
Extended overlap mixes became my signature style before drum machines made that easy by eliminating the unsteady speed of human drummers.
Those broadcasts are reputed to have inspired legions of listeners to take up DJing as a profession.
