Lisa Cheney is an emerging Australian composer currently based in Melbourne. Her music has been performed by the Southern Cross Soloists, The Australian Voices, The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Ady Ensemble, Belladiva, Ensemble Fabrique, Syzygy and The Australian Ballet, amongst others. She studied her undergraduate and Master degrees at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music (QCGU) with Gerard Brophy and Gerardo Dirie, and has also received lessons from renowned composers William Duckworth, Philip Bracanin, Iain Grandage, Robert Aldridge and David Dzubay.

Lisa has written for a variety of mediums including orchestra, chamber ensemble, choir, ballet, theatre, film, animation and electronic tracks for live performance collaborations. Her composition accolades include being the recipient of the Glen-Carter Varney Award for Composition (2009), first places at the MTAQ Gold Coast Composer’s Competition and the ASME Young Composer’s Competition (2004-2010), the Bill Murray Encouragement Award for Composition (2009), first prize at the Keys Festival for Australian Music (2006), the Griffith University Owen Fletcher Postgraduate Award (2008), an Australia-Korea Foundation Scholarship (2011) and the Silver Harris and Jeff Peck Composition Prize (2014). She has participated in the 2010 Atlantic Music Festival (Maine, USA), the 2012 Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp, the 2013 Brevard Music Centre Institute (North Carolina, USA) and the 2013 Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Cybec 21ST Century Composers’ Program. Her work The Pool and the Star, written at part of the Cybec Program, was most recently selected by the MSO for performance at the Metropolis New Music Festival under the baton of Finnish maestro Olli Mustonen.

As part of her Master of Music research Lisa has written papers exploring various experiences of other early career female composers in Australia.  In late 2014 Lisa will commence a PhD in composition at the University of Melbourne with prominent Australian composers Elliott Gyger and Stuart Greenbaum.
	
 In addition to a busy writing schedule, Cheney enjoys supporting the careers of other emerging composers and artists as the founder of the Brisbane Composers’ Forum, enjoys singing as a member of The Australian Voices and through private music tuition at her home on the Gold Coast.  She is currently working on commissions for The Ady Ensemble, The Melbourne Metropolitan Sinfonietta and The Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra.

BIOGRAPHY
ARIA award‐winning Tyrone Noonan began a multi‐ faceted solo career following 10 years with george, a Brisbane band fronted by brother and sister, Tyrone and Katie Noonan. In george, Tyrone provided lead and backing vocals, guitar, keyboards, production and song writing. The band's debut album, Polyserena, entered the Australian national charts at No 1, sold double platinum and won the band an ARIA for Best New Artist. george released eight EPs, two albums and an award‐ winning DVD during its career. In 2016/17 the band celebrated its 20‐year anniversary, performed sell‐out shows around the country and released a new album compilation of their indie EPs, The Early Years. 
In 2005, george entered an indefinite hiatus and Tyrone formed a new solo band, releasing his debut pop/rock/soul mini‐album Heavy Soul Part 1 in 2006 with a successful national tour and solid national radio play; relocating to London in 2008 and representing Australia at various festivals including Toast and TNT Month of Music; relocating to New York in 2009 (until 2012) and representing Australia at various Australia Day festivals and Anzac Day ceremonies; releasing his first solo album, I Believe, in 2011 on the back of a successful crowd‐funded Pledge Music campaign; and releasing his remix EP I’m A Believer in 2014 with a successful east coast band tour and solid national radio play. 
ABOUT THE ALBUM 
His long‐awaited follow‐up album, Utopia?, will be released later in 2020. The album traverses genres and influences, with pop gems sitting comfortably alongside beautiful ballads, and all carrying a powerful message as Ty expertly weaves between personal and socio‐political themes. 
Tyrone says of the inspiration behind the record: “I'm aiming to create a journey through the myriad of human emotions, both on a personal and a global level, that we are all facing right now". 
But that doesn't mean it's a gloomy record: “This is a record for those yearning for a better path; something I think so many people on this planet agree with. Things are evolving so quickly, but amongst the 24 hour news cycle, there's not enough balance between the negative and positive. This album tries to bridge that balance.” 
The record features co‐writes with the likes of the late Grant (G.W.) McLennan (of The Go‐Betweens, and including his last vocal recording), Dan Rosen (ARIA CEO) and his main co-writers, Award-winning Donna Dyson and rising NT star Colin Lillie.

As well as developing projects for his own music, Steve freelances on piano/keyboards with a wide array of sonic artists/genres. He has appeared on recordings with VNMG, Kavita Shah, Kristin Berardi, West End Composers Collective and others. 

He writes chamber and orchestral music and has arranged works for Katie Noonan, Paul Grabowsky, Stefon Harris, The Metropole Orkest, Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra, Tony Gould, Ben Folds, Ben Lee, Augie March, Tim Rogers, The Panics, among others.
