I finished this album the year I graduated high school. This was the transformation from slower, darker and melancholy trip-hop to more aggressive and spacier breakbeat & big beat sounds. This was before I had any MIDI controllers or digital equipment... this was made on a Pentium 4 machine with a mouse and QWERTY keyboard.

Thor Rixon's Halation EP features lead single and collaboration between blaqkongo titled 'Walk With Me', followed by 'Minertia'- two house tracks that are ready and waiting for the dark rooms and open fields.


Walk With Me started off with the intention of being a thumping club burner but when we both felt it needed more soul, we made a change for the better, bridging the gap between the vocals and the music to create
something unique, wholesome & driving.
“The lyrics speak to the infinite possibilities we can create if we get over the limitations we set in our minds,
and allow ourselves to “grow wild” rather than “work hard”. In essence, allow yourself to be free and move away from packaging yourself.” - blaqkongo

Minertia is the focus and obsession with small, and in some cases insignificant, details that prevent or slow down the process of finishing a project or task. This track has taken me almost 4 years to complete, with
countless revisions- adding, subtracting and refining the small details until it felt complete. But does a creation ever feel complete? Art is never finished, only abandoned.
I wanted to create a very rich and dense sound scape with this house track by imbuing it with emotive pad work and intricate rhythms that interplay and dance with each other.
I always try to walk the line between home and club, which was a big focus for this track.
