SUN GOD is inspired by the cross-generational exchange of music between KMTK and his uncle Myron throughout his years as a teen in South & Central Seattle. “Come summer we would pile into his Lex coupe [Black on Chrome] and just ride. No destination. No plan. Just a soundtrack of funk and R&B...Mtume, Rick James, Mint Condition, Jodeci, Silk, & Intro playing in the background as he would drop the life jewels upon me that ultimately shaped me into the man I am today. As I came of age the flow of information became two sided and the soundtrack expanded to include 2Pac, Biggie, Redman, Nas, Digable Planets, and the Wu-Tang Clan. Sun God is representative of my personal playlist, the sights and sounds of summer in Seattle. The smell of back yard BBQs in the pre-gentrified central district, the sound of bones slapping that raggedy black card table on its last leg, the pulse of the black festival parades marching up MLK, and the spirit of original black Seafairers that pioneered this state and city [WA & Seattle respectively]. Sun God is the amalgamation of all these experiences and plays out in a 24-hour tale of summer in Seattle from sunrise to sunset. take a loop around seward park with kmtk & uncle myron, tape hiss included...
