I try to record my own music that comes to me naturally. I started playing guitar in 2009 and bought my recording device in 2010. Without lessons, life and nature are inspiring me.  I don't think in terms of genres or music should be like this, but rather as a free form of expression in sound that makes a harmony and translates energy. I've got tons of inspiration, but just have to find some time!

Ambient music for contemplative journeying.

“The Spaces Between” tiptoes around the idea of liminality, the idea of the threshold, the between of things, such as the silence between notes. There is something there that relates to the emotion of witnessing a sunset or sunrise, or when the sun shines through leaves. I am a translator for a living and that is also liminal in nature. Neither here nor there, yet both here and there. That is the mythological function of the Greek god Hermes, who “travels across the boundaries of this world and the world of the gods.”

The purpose of this musical project is to share mysterious things that are felt in the spaces between worlds. In the between of things, like the line enveloping the edges of forms, there are vast spaces, and one witnesses these spaces by projecting the line into depth. Dwelling on the threshold seems to reveal a shimmering beauty that is normally invisible, but commonly experienced when witnessing a sunset, or light filtering through the leaves of trees at sundown (komorebi in Japanese).

That mystery of the threshold, I believe, is why the beach is such a commonplace idea for a vacation destination. A special sense of peace is found on the beach, as the threshold between land and sea. There is something magical there, even for those who don’t consciously believe in anything invisible—as the beach naturally symbolizes and evokes the meeting of here and there, the reconciliation of two worlds; motion and stillness, immanence and transcendence, the transient and the eternal, earth and heaven.

A similar phenomenon seems to occur in photography or tape recording. There is something at the edges of things that is not immediately noticeable, like a horizon of depth on the contour, invisible unless we amplify it by giving it more attention; this happens for instance when an image or sound is filtered or degraded and light or sound breaks open on the edges into shimmering rainbow colors (think of the effect of a prism). In sound, this “rainbow” effect corresponds to the delightful warm harmonics produced by tape saturation, likewise evoking something mysterious and transcendent. My wish is to convey something of my experiences of that mysterious beauty through sound.

I am an ambient guitarist from Kent, UK, currently living in the middle of an olive grove in the mountains near Pisa, Italy. I play various Roland/Boss guitar synthesisers and record direct to Logic Pro X on a MacBook Pro or to an iPad Pro using a variety of apps to create my tracks. Also partial to Variax guitars, Fernandes sustainers and the eBow.

I use the artist name Snow Black for my published albums, which are available on Bandcamp, iTunes/Apple Music and Spotify as well as all other streaming platforms.

  I started playing music at 14. I played on a borrowed guitar for many many years because we didn't have a lot of money, and I really had the desire to learn to play. By the time I was 17 I had saved enough money working summer jobs to buy my own guitar, and later bought a used Pedal steel Guitar. The whole next year I spent working on and completed my first song, “Last Chance”. I Played in a Gospel Group, Call " Highway" for a few year, and then started writing music on my own. I Share my music with everyone, because its my passion to encourage others in life.

I began playing music in the Spring of 2019. I was inspired by The Holy Spirit to start on a musical journey. I play a variety of instruments and styles. I enjoy ambient worship music the best, and hope that the music I play will inspire others. God Bless you! :)
