The seeds for this exciting collaboration between Nick Warren and Guy Mantzur were sown a long time ago during snatched conversations at airport terminals, online and at various shows around the world. But, their hectic schedules has meant that patience has been a necessary virtue when it came to actually finding time to work together on this new project. However, the final product – “Sad Robot” – for John Digweed’s Bedrock label has definitely been worth the wait!

This sparkling gem of a track pushes all the right buttons: a low-slung, percussive groove backbone, peppered with twisted vocal snippets and an ebb and flow of euphoric attitude that only comes from years of experience of rocking the best dancefloors around the world week in week out. With added excitement in the form of an energetic, throbbing monster of a remix by Musumeci (aka Sicilian DJ/Producer Mauro Di Martino) – this new package from Bedrock is set to fly.

Nick Warren has just recently returned from another successful tour of South America, and is currently working with production partner Jody Wisternoff on a new Way Out West album. Meanwhile, Guy Mantzur has forthcoming releases lined up on Kompakt and Lost & Found. This first meeting of musical minds for Bedrock has proved such a creative success, we can only hope they find time for more collaborations like this in the future.

Tone Depth honed his skills as a DJ in Canada’s world famous after-hours club Stereo, and his productions being signed to many top international labels such as Bedrock, Great Stuff, Definitive, Perfecto and many more.
And now he lands on Sudbeat with three gems, so lets get the ball rolling with 'Domino Effect'. A groovy and luscious edged affair that draws on classic house vibes, with its subtleness being its strong point, before being seductlvel drawn to the breakdown, thats a thing of beauty.
'Memory Man' is next. If its deep and mystical music that you like, you're in for a treat, as this sultry workout lulls you in, and locks you in to its magical spell. Warm and hypnotic, but with attitude, the gem is a wonderful slab of club goodness.
And rounding things off superbly we see 'Coastline', and its bassline bubbles along, while infectious stabs wonderfully grace this soundscape, and occcasional choir like vocals adorn this winner, generating beautiful smile inducing layers.

Guy J’s seminal label celebrates its 50th release with a two remixes of famed Israeli artist, Eitan Reiter. Having recently finished his second long player, Reiter has the uncanny ability to create a bewildering cross section of styles with aplomb. Featured here are Guy’s remixes of ‘All That I Know’ and ‘Fade Away’ which have been big crowd pleasers in his shows this year. 

  ‘All That I Know’ was originally released on Armadillo Records back in November 2017 as part of his second solo album, Give It Life. In original form, its wonky off-kilter rhythms and delicate sonics shape the track atmospherically. Guy takes that energy and injected his own dance floor voodoo to add some necessary late night groove.   

Also taken from the Give It Life album, ‘Fade Away’ marries deep pads, trip hops beats and influences of Shoegaze. Upping the tempo and adding a hefty dose of funk from the off, Guy brings this detailed and finespun masterpiece onto the frontlines of twenty first century clubland. Subtle and patient the pay off is in the ride.

Cid Inc's Replug Records gets 2019 underway by welcoming Anton MAKe back to the label for a brand new EP. The Russian artist made his debut on the Finnish imprint in August of 2016 with 'Naja Nova', a three track EP in collaboration with fellow countryman Shamil OM. In addition to an appearance on Lonya's Asymmetric Recordings, 2018 saw Anton return to Replug with a contribution to the label's highly regarded 'Defined' series. Now getting the new year underway in style the Russian artist presents his first solo EP for the label entitled 'Divo'. 

Anton's affinity for mystical storyboarding has never been more profound than on the lead piece 'Divo'. Anchored by a hypno-groove and sultry rhythmic structures, it's a production that flows through a myriad of free form motifs. Highly dramatic throughout, ghostly synths and astral effects converge for moments of sonic integrity, while timely drum fills and emerging atmospheres add to its mysterious charm. Redolent synth swells then come in waves, gently evolving across several well timed breaks, before soulful strums put a cap on this meditative gem.

Further diversifying his portfolio Anton showcases a deeper sound on 'OII'. Beautifully constructed, it's tight rhythmic framework is adorned with tepid overlays and wistful qualities. Evocative in nature, it's a creation where the sum of its parts exceeds expectation, relying on harmonic resonance, cosmic designs and a brief but euphoric theme to deliver it's spiritually uplifting message.

The release concludes in fine fashion with the exquisite vibes of 'Mandorlato'. Beginning with chunky bass stabs and spacey atmospheres, it's laid back cadence flows while layers of drums assemble in a lush organic space. Surreal and dream like, tonal creativities and fragmented sonics trail across the framework, smoothly shifting energy into an emotive interlude. Replete with reflective qualities it's an impassioned finale to a stunning collection of music from Anton. One of artistic growth and boundless creativity, setting up what should be a memorable year for the Russian artist.

Australian progressive house icon Matt Rowan last appeared on Particles in early 2015. Around the same time, East Cafe released his first remix for the Proton flagship label. Over four years later, the two label stalwarts come full circle with “Heads Down.” Throughout its impressive ten-minute framework, the East Cafe remix synthesizes nostalgic and contemporary tones alike. The Hungarian certainly displays "a level of refinement, detail and depth” by drawing inspiration from the original’s timeless melodic lines.

Precisely five years and one hundred releases on from the original melodic charm of Quivvers exceptional Takin Over (BEDDIGI65) original conjuring up magical images of sun-drenched Ibiza beach parties, the globally renowned musical innovator returns to Bedrock with his inspired Takin Over 2020 and invites the uniquely exciting Giorgia Angiuli and Vincenzo to further explore alternative moods with their remix skills.

Quivvers Takin Over 2020 rework has captured the timeless quality that immediately sets his finest productions apart from so much of todays disposable mass music production line. His ability to create a simple melody and then absolutely perfect it to every degree imaginable is untouchable. Here, he adds pace and punch in perfect proportions, as the track builds with a purring urgency in an intricate, ever-evolving arrangement, whilst retaining its original, deeply haunting timeless beauty.

The past year has seen a stream of excellent releases from Giorgia Angiuli, the uniquely talented Italian composer and multi-instrumentalist, on the likes of Einmusika, Warung, Stil Vor Talent and Systematic. By wrapping her vibrating and energetic groove around a heavy, pulsating kick, on an expanding evocative bed of humming, swirling synth lines and allowing the distinctive, beautiful melodious Takin Over hook to peep out of the musical whirl, Giorgia creates a deliciously feisty remix, taking the track in an entirely fresh and firing direction.

In perfect contrast, as a prolific master of the deeper end of the house music spectrum, Vincenzo conjures up a distinctly soulful mood, coupled with his trademark pulsating electronic vibe. From the opening resonant kick and hi-hat build, he masterfully morphs Takin Over into a uniquely vociferous version. His is an unhurried, deeply emotional take that captures the originals laid-back, mesmeric beauty to perfection. As finales go, it would be hard to top the renowned Berlin-based producer when hes on such fine form.
